Winner Of The Floral Necklace Giveaway and Stuff

20140516-205112.jpg

Congratulations to Liana! She won the beautiful floral necklace courtesy of The Peacock Fairy. I think it is so gorgeous. Enjoy! I am so happy for her. Liana is such a sweet girl. You can get to know her better at The Frock and the Hound.

Thank you to all who entered. Heather and I appreciate it. So much.

This is the time of the month where I usually list my cravings, but I have a problem.

I am kind of over “stuff” this month. What I am really craving this month is more organization. Especially with summer sneaking up on me. I do not want to be overwhelmed with clutter.

But I am the least organized person I know.

And I love clutter.

So I’m in a bit of a rut.

I thought I would share some things I have all ready purchased in the last two months. Unfortunately everything I had wanted for months hit sale (Frangipani Top) or became available after a long wait. This means that I have not even been looking at shopping sites this week. I have been lovin’ on my current closet additions plus restyling some oldies. I also have a pile of clothes to dry clean and sell soon. My style has changed a bit since I first lost the weight, so I want to just keep what reflects the current “me.”

That counts as organizing, right?

My Spring Clothing Purchases:

20140516-205542.jpg

I was finally able to snag the Free People Mix Print Tunic. It is everything I hoped it would be. I love this top.

20140516-205711.jpg

Forever 21 Floral Kimono. I plan on wearing this over my Free People peach maxi slip and also over all of my sleeveless white dresses this summer. This is sold out online. It was also sold out in our store. But if you have it in a store near you, I highly recommend it. Especially as it is less than $20.

20140516-205743.jpg

This Vintage Skirt from Etsy. It is a Mexican Blanket Skirt. So rad. I have worn it with it with a silver cuff, silver coin necklace, silver sandals, and day drifter denim tee.

20140516-205840.jpg

A simple tee from Forever 21. I can also wear this with the above skirt. Although, I will probably pair it with my Duggar Skirt. And tons of bohemian jewelry.

20140516-205914.jpg

A wooden ring. I know I am breaking the rules, because this is not clothing. But since I made the rules, I think I can let it slide. I love this! I waited for it to go on sale and happily purchased it when it did. I have realized that almost all of the jewelry I am drawn to on Anthropologie is made by the artist, Pam Hiran.

20140516-205947.jpg

Anthropologie Savant Dress (squee! It finally hit sale!). I waited months and months for this dress to go on sale. And I am so glad I did. It looks so cute with my vintage boots, the ring mentioned above, and the necklace The Peacock Fairy gifted me.

20140516-210200.jpg

Modcloth Sea the Light Skirt (I’ve worn it over my green Colima Skirt. It is so good! Modcloth has a similar skirt to the Colima Maxi here). This skirt is almost sold out. All of the reviews say it runs big, but I took a medium and it fit fine.

20140516-210229.jpg

I love this dress I recently purchased with a gift card from my sweet mom. It is really incredibly short but I am working that out. Because I love the overall fit and tiny details.

Thank you Mom!

20140516-210259.jpg

My family gifted me these Tall Gladiator Sandals for Mother’s Day (we got them 20% off). I really needed a new laptop, but practicality has never been my strong suit. So, I shall continue to type these posts one handed.

Totally worth it. ; )

20140516-220720.jpg

They also gifted me these. Um, what do you think these gifts ssshhhhhaaaAy about me?

Do you have any cravings you want to share? Has anything caught your eye this month?

It’s The Little Things: Bracelets

20140514-180114.jpg

I started this blog while I was still discovering my personal style. And I still am discovering it. I think self discovery is always an on-going cycle. With that said, I used to not like to wear more than one accessory. And sometimes that is still true.

But lately I have wanted to layer more and more.

The less clothes I get to layer as the weather warms up means the more accessories that get to take their place.

I bought my first bracelet last year.

It was so exciting.

I have since added a few more:

20140514-160631.jpg

This Free People Hammered Stacked Multi Cuff was a recent acquisition as I try to push myself past my comfort zone.

My husband thinks it looks like shower curtain rings.

When is he going to learn that when he compares something to something else weird or funny, that just makes me like it even more?

Forever 21 has a very similar version in gold. I really like that one, too.

20140514-160602.jpg

I wore these Forever 21 Globetrotter Cuffs yesterday. They are my absolute favorites. They are also less than $5 each. I love them so much, I hope they last.

The turquoise layered bracelet was one of five that I purchased last year for $4 each. They are sold out, but Forever 21 has some fun colored bangles in a similar color vein here. And I saw almost identical ones at Target yesterday.

20140514-160721.jpg

I own two of the Anthropologie Scalloped Monogram Bracelets. One with my husband’s initial and one with my own. I think these are feminine and sweet. I like the little details on them.

20140514-160912.jpg

One weird fact (of many… Too… Too… Many) about me is that I love octopuses. I think they are brilliant creatures that we still have not studied enough. So, when I saw Modcloth’s My Pet Octopus Cuff, I knew it was being added to my collection. This bracelet is fun, but I will say that I have small wrists and this moves around a lot. I think this would fit better on a girl with larger wrists.

20140514-160846.jpg

I purchased this yellow wrap bee bracelet two weeks ago at Nordstrom Rack for $10. I could not find a link for a similar bracelet (or rather, I could not find a link to a similar bracelet at a reasonable price. I am not going to link to a bracelet that costs more than most dresses). The brand is Dazzle. Each bug had a different color. There was a pretty kelly green one, too, but my heart belongs to the bee. Ever since my grandmother passed away, I feel more drawn to my heritage as a daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter of many generations of beekeepers. So when I see a piece of jewelry with a bee or bees on it, I pounce.

20140514-161003.jpg

It’s The Little Things: A small accessory to bring a little more fun to an outfit. And a little more joy to my heart.

Have you gotten into the bracelet love this season? Do you layer them? Do you have weird jewelry rules like me (you will never see me wearing a necklace and earrings. It has to be one or the other)?

P.S. Speaking of bracelets, Heather from the shop, Peacock Fairy, has some pretty bracelets, too. She is giving away a beautiful necklace.. It ends tonight at 9:00 p.m. PST. Please do not forget to enter. Thank you!

In The Queen’s Rose Garden

20140510-123048.jpg

I snuck away to a rose garden the other day to take some pictures of my new Frangipani Peasant Top. I kept my eyes peeled for a Cheshire Cat, but in doing so stumbled and fell.

Just call me Tweedledum-b.

I had no idea that Frangipani was a flower until sweet Liana from The Frock and the Hound commented yesterday on my giveaway stating it was her favorite flower. I looked it up and found that Frangipani is actually Plumeria. Who knew? Well, I guess Liana did. ; )

20140510-171604.jpg

I had purchased the Frangipani Peasant Top (sold out, kind of similar Forever 21 version here and slightly similar plus size option here) during the additional 20% off sale items and received free shipping through a store. I was unsure about it, because it was so expensive. But it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I am a sucker for baggy clothes. Especially baggy clothes with floral and crocheted lace.

I was ignorantly calling it, “Fran-ja-pan-neeee,” with a deep Southern twang around my house. Having no clue of its definition, I just thought it was a fun word to say. And whisper in my husband’s ear.

He loved that.

20140510-170541.jpg

We went to the local rose garden to take pictures. I felt like Alice wandering through The Queen’s Garden. Except instead of falling down a rabbit hole, I fell into the cactus behind me. I, of course, would manage to fall into the only cactus in the entire rose garden. I did not say, “Frangipani!”, when I fell. Although, now that I think about it, that would be a great exclamation. Certainly more appropriate than what I probably said.

20140510-170639.jpg

I love my new Anthropologie Scalloped Monogram Bracelet that I wore that day. I have two of them. One with my initial and the other with my husband’s. I cannot wait to pair them together.

20140510-171303.jpg

The roses are gorgeous right now. It was nice to see blooms with this drought going on. It is such a peaceful place. Each time I am there, there is no one else visiting. They must be scared of The Queen.

20140510-171230.jpg

I even wore my Rabbit Earrings to sneak through the garden. If you will notice, the rabbit has two different colored eyes. Kind of like a certain Mad Hatter. You don’t think this is the secret love child of The Mad Hatter and The White Rabbit do you?

If it is, you know I will love them even more. Does that make me mad?

20140510-171802.jpg

20140510-171727.jpg

Do you have a rose garden near you? Be sure to visit it soon. The best blooms will be gone in three weeks. And with them, any chance to visit Wonderland or the opportunity to yell, “Frangipani!” at a cactus. And that would be a shame to miss.

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. I was lucky enough get to see my sweet mom yesterday. It was so nice. I love you Mom!

And I shared this on The Pleated Poppy!

Patches Of Vintage Fun Skirt

20140505-130333.jpg

I knew.

I knew the moment I saw a preview of this skirt that it would be mine. Except. There was only one of it. And I thought it had all ready sold out.

It was sold through Modcloth. And miracle of miracles (although, I hope it truly was not a miracle for as much as I love my skirt, I do not want to waste miracles on clothing), the skirt became available.

I bought it.

Without checking the size.

20140505-130414.jpg

Thankfully it fit. I also purchased a Vintage Folk Belt that day.

20140505-130442.jpg

So far, I have paired it twice with my black t-shirt. And I want to pair it with my Lunation Tee next.

20140505-130508.jpg

I know I promised different outfit pictures of settings other than my fireplace, but sometimes that is not possible. On Sunday, I have an outfit post going up where I ventured to a rose garden.

Tomorrow, I will have a post dedicated to vintage skirts that I have stalked on Etsy to show pretty pieces currently for sale in a variety of sizes. If you don’t do vintage, Modcloth has the most amazing skirt on their site right now. It is called Bright as can Beat Skirt.

Do you shop vintage? What is your favorite vintage item to shop for? I love finding vintage dresses and skirts.
