In The Queen’s Rose Garden

20140510-123048.jpg

I snuck away to a rose garden the other day to take some pictures of my new Frangipani Peasant Top. I kept my eyes peeled for a Cheshire Cat, but in doing so stumbled and fell.

Just call me Tweedledum-b.

I had no idea that Frangipani was a flower until sweet Liana from The Frock and the Hound commented yesterday on my giveaway stating it was her favorite flower. I looked it up and found that Frangipani is actually Plumeria. Who knew? Well, I guess Liana did. ; )

I had purchased the Frangipani Peasant Top (sold out, kind of similar Forever 21 version here and slightly similar plus size option here) during the additional 20% off sale items and received free shipping through a store. I was unsure about it, because it was so expensive. But it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I am a sucker for baggy clothes. Especially baggy clothes with floral and crocheted lace.

I was ignorantly calling it, “Fran-ja-pan-neeee,” with a deep Southern twang around my house. Having no clue of its definition, I just thought it was a fun word to say. And whisper in my husband’s ear.

He loved that.

We went to the local rose garden to take pictures. I felt like Alice wandering through The Queen’s Garden. Except instead of falling down a rabbit hole, I fell into the cactus behind me. I, of course, would manage to fall into the only cactus in the entire rose garden. I did not say, “Frangipani!”, when I fell. Although, now that I think about it, that would be a great exclamation. Certainly more appropriate than what I probably said.

I love my new Anthropologie Scalloped Monogram Bracelet that I wore that day. I have two of them. One with my initial and the other with my husband’s. I cannot wait to pair them together.

The roses are gorgeous right now. It was nice to see blooms with this drought going on. It is such a peaceful place. Each time I am there, there is no one else visiting. They must be scared of The Queen.

20140510-171230.jpg

I even wore my Rabbit Earrings to sneak through the garden. If you will notice, the rabbit has two different colored eyes. Kind of like a certain Mad Hatter. You don’t think this is the secret love child of The Mad Hatter and The White Rabbit do you?

If it is, you know I will love them even more. Does that make me mad?

Do you have a rose garden near you? Be sure to visit it soon. The best blooms will be gone in three weeks. And with them, any chance to visit Wonderland or the opportunity to yell, “Frangipani!” at a cactus. And that would be a shame to miss.

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. I was lucky enough get to see my sweet mom yesterday. It was so nice. I love you Mom!

And Because Shanna Said So

Poor Easter Bunny

Happy Easter! (If you celebrate. If not, Happy Sunday!)

I think the big question here is, did the Easter Bunny make it to our house, on time, this year?

Yes, this is an actual question in our household.

Folks, he’s been late before.

I know!

What?!

Don’t look at me!

I can’t control a giant bunny!

And, as I have explained to my children, Santa is spoiled. There. I said it.

Well, he is!

He has a troop of little creep creatures elves doing all of his work for him. A team of reindeer to cart his belly full of jelly (no judgement here. I have one, too. Just replace jelly with wine, and we are practically the same person) around the entire world.

And, let’s not forget his biggest luxury.

His sleigh.

Does the poor Easter Bunny have any of that?

No!

He just has to keep hoppin’ along.

All by himself.

Delivering eggs.

Yes. Eggs. Bunnies and eggs go together like… My belly and jelly… I am sure he is just as confused as we are. I mean, the fellow must be a wee bit out of sorts.

Confused, if you will.

So, it’s no wonder that sometimes he is a day… Or two… late to some of our houses.

Who can blame the guy?

Maybe he stopped and took a nap. The urge does run in his family. We’ve all read about his famous whiny little cousin in “The Tortoise And The Hare.”

And his Uncle (incidentally not the father of “The Hare” above), The March Hare from “Alice in Wonderland.”

That dude always thinks it’s tea time.

In that very same story, his Great Grandfather, The White Rabbit, almost ruins everything with his messed up pocket watch, and his silly little excuse of a chant, “I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!”

Can we all see the connection here?

It could have carried over into The Easter Bunny’s genes.

I mean, why not?

His whole entire family of rabbits have some seriously poor time management skills.

Let’s cut the giant dude some slack.

I know I will.

Poor Easter Bunny.

And I Become The Crazy Rabbit Lady

I saw these Menagerie Pillows online and I knew. I had to have them. Then Anthropologie had a customer appreciation day and they went 15% off.

20131130-121005.jpg

I purchased two of them for my husband to give to me at Christmas. But then they came.

20131130-222053.jpg

And I fell in love.

20131130-121037.jpg

They have pompom balls. There is even one on the back. Get it? It’s a tail.

20131130-222126.jpg

I have one in each of my yellow chairs.

And now it is official. I am the crazy bunny lady. Or the crazy Alice in Wonderland girl….

I’ll take it! Excuse me… I have a pillow I must go cuddle. No carrots required.

And My Romantic Home

More Than Slightly Obsessed

This is an extra post today. It is here, because I need help identifying an article of clothing…I received a Pottery Barn Teen Catalog in the mail yesterday. This happens. I have a teenager. I have purchased from Pottery Barn before. I usually do not ever get around to looking at it.

20130926-100840.jpg

But this cover caught my eye. That blouse! The overalls. I have searched and searched the internet looking for this magnificent top. Does anyone, anyone at all, know where this blouse is from? I am in love. It is gorgeous. Just divine. Please leave a comment if you know where to get it! Thank you so much!

I opened the catalog and I was blown away with the cool new designs by Stylists and Designers Emily Current and Meritt Elliot.

20130926-101013.jpg

Look at this gold dotted duvet. I would rock this. Unfortunately it does not come in my bed’s size.

20130926-100940.jpg

Have you ever seen anything so adorable? Me neither. I want one. Need one.

20130926-101048.jpg

I want this clothing rack like my dog, Ollie, wants an ice cube. So badly, I can almost taste it.

They also have the cutest bunny lamp. I will not be getting this. Yesterday I wore my bunny shirt from Anthropologie, and I took pictures of my child with my bunny iphone case. Later, I thought to myself, I must have looked like a nut. All bunny, all of the time. But if you are not all ready in bunny overload… This lamp is “wonderful.”

And the denim chaise they are selling is very cool.

What do you think? I realize I am too old for a teen catalog, but my heart is young. I love it all. And please, please let me know if you have seen the top from the first picture.
