Snow Ollie

IMG_2319-0.JPG

Both of my dogs were flabbergasted by the snow that made its way to our house in Southern California a few weeks ago. The first time Ollie touched it he jumped about a foot in the air. Do you see his tongue? Is that not the cutest thing ever?

Murphy did not have such qualms. His terror quickly dispelled to anxiety that someone was going to touch his snow. It was all his. And he could not traipse through it fast enough to explore and guard it. The snowgnome threw him for a loop, though.

Once Ollie saw Murphy jumping through the terrifying whiteness he became a little more brave. He wanted to explore, but because of his love of cars, we had to put a leash on him lest he decide to go give a car a hug and become an unfortunate victim to his love.

I decided to take a few pictures with him in the snow just for fun. I had purchased this dress on a popback from Anthropologie for $30, so it is sold out now. It is all one piece. Anthropologie’s Layered Shirtdress is also a layered more work appropriate one piece dress and I wrote about my favorite layered one-piece last year. Free People’s Lily Dress is a sweet design in a similar vein. I guess I like the ease of an all-ready-put-together ensemble. Although I will admit part of me feels like a child in this. Perhaps it is the pigtails?

Nah.

Look at that face. It is pure love right there. Ollie looks pretty happy, too.

Do you own any easy pieces that look like more but are actually one item? Do your animals like the snow? Ollie spent about five minutes in it and then he was done. Murphy, on the other hand, would have stayed outside all day in it if we would have let him.

But we didn’t.

I don’t know if his little heart could have taken the harsh reality of the sun melting all of his icy treasure. I think he is still looking for it. He probably thinks Ollie ate it all.

Which would not really surprise any of us… Except Ollie.

P.S. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has made me as happy as this Instagram account in a very long time. It is Matilda_and_Kiki. The owner is documenting her newborn bulldog puppies several times a day. Sometimes with video. It is my family’s new favorite thing to check on the internet. The cuteness is heartwarming and I want to just grab two of the puppies and rub them on my cheeks!

If You Find Yourself On My Couch

You might.

Yes.

Well, you might.

Get accosted.

By a dog.

20140313-164413.jpg

Or two.

20140313-164448.jpg

And they probably won’t bug you.

20140313-164736.jpg

Unless they do.

20140313-164759.jpg

But you won’t mind.

‘Cause the dogs are cute.

And that’s when you’ll realize…

You’re out numbered.

On The Hunt For Rain

It’s Raining

It’s Pouring

The Old Dog is

Snorting?

20140315-175238.jpg

For Christmas, my husband went to the Nordstrom Rack and purchased me a pair of Hunter Boots in this teal color. He said he wanted me to have the “real” thing after I did that post about buying my rain boots at Costco, but really wanting the Hunter Boots sold online there. Which is so sweet. But they sat in my closet until the last day in February, because California decided to repel rain this year.

20140315-175335.jpg

When I finally saw rain clouds, I pranced around in my boots for three days.

First, I paired the boots with my other surprise Christmas present from my husband. He bought me this Free People flannel shirt from Nordstrom Rack, as well. I guess I can trust him to shop for me. Because I love all three items he picked out for me.

20140315-175436.jpg

Then, the next day, I paired the boots with two new popback scores. My Iremel Brocade Skirt ($30 down from $138) and my Ravenna Cardigan ($10 down from $118). And then my husband came home and he saw me in this outfit.

“Heeeeelllllooooo kindergartner!” He said. And it was not good. But, oh, well, I still like this outfit. It is fun and it made me happy.

I probably will wear this skirt with an untucked shirt next time. It will look better, I think. Or a belt. Hmmmm. I am unsure on this one.

20140315-175527.jpg

Then I met some girlfriends at a little bar. And you know what the perfect thing to wear to a bar is? That’s right! Hunter Boots! No? Well, I can’t always get the answer right. I was not going to miss an opportunity to wear them even if they probably weren’t the right choice for a night on the town.

The top is actually two slips layered together. The cardigan is the Ravenna Cardigan from above. The mint slip is the Trapeze Slip from Free People.

And look at my sweet baby. He had to photobomb the picture. He loves Hunter Boots, too.

20140315-175801.jpg

And Ollie is irresistible.

20140315-175707.jpg

Plus, he makes the best photo faces.

20140315-175604.jpg

I could not resist trying to give him a kiss. But he hates kisses. So, all I usually get is a snort in the face. This is actually sexier than it sounds.

Okay.

It’s not sexier than it sounds. It is actually grosser than kissing your dog on the lips.

But I swear it makes my make up stay on longer.

Okay.

That’s a lie, too.

Let’s end this post before I get in any more trouble. And go off on any more crazy tangents.

Have you worn rain boots lately? How do you wear them?

Ollie’s Girlfriend

My dog, Ollie, has a lover. He is obsessed with her. His favorite activity is to give her lovin’ while people are over at our house visiting. The sound of his panting can be quite embarrassing when we are trying to hold a conversation with our company… Eyes over here, please. Ignore the quaking dog in the corner…

My biggest problem with his girlfriend is she can get kind of smelly. So I try to give her a bath whenever I notice she is getting dirty. Ollie hates a clean partner. Hey, what can I say? My dog is a freak…

20130624-094110.jpg

Here is his lover all nice and clean after her bath. Oh, did I forget to mention that his girlfriend is also his bed?

20130624-094033.jpg

Ollie hates her this way. He can not wait to mess her up again. I have to replace his girlfriend every couple of months. A gal can only take so much. He always plays hard to get with his brand new cushion of adoration. Unfortunately, he always comes around.

Does your dog do weird things? Am I the only one with a freaky pet? Tell me I am not alone!
