A Cheap, Easy and Waughty Mess

I realized recently that I had not shared a good many of my outfit photos from the wintertime. I do not know what happened? I guess I just would rather talk about dimes falling out of my underwear than clothes. ; )

I purchased this easy little dress (called the Eyelet Twofer Chemise) in the winter of 2012 from Anthropologie. I have always liked it. Probably because it was called a “chemise” and I cannot resist wearing such items out in public. It is easy to layer. It is one complete piece, so it is also easy to wear.

I guess what I am saying is… I’m easy.

Yep.

Bet ya didn’t know that.

This outfit is kind of a hot mess. But I had fun with it. And in it.

I guess what I am also confessing today is, I’m a mess.

An easy mess.

Sigh.

This whole outfit from head to toe cost less than $80. So, I guess there is that.

Did I mention I’m kind of cheap, too?

With one of my Christmas gift cards, I bought this beautiful Arslan Sweater Coat on sale from Anthropologie In December. I have only worn it once. However, my dear friend borrowed it for a trip to Canada last month. So, this sweater has traveled more than I have! Don’t tell Humboldt Tunic. He will not be able to contain his jealousy.

I paired the sweater-coat with a lingerie piece my husband gifted me as a Christmas gift. I like to wear my underwear as clothes, too.

I am weird. Or naughty. I’ll go with weird.

Or waughty.

I have shared much more than I meant to in this little outfit post today. We learned that I am an easy, cheap, waughty, messy girl. Darn! I was hoping I would secretly learn I was elegant or sophisticated.

You can now add delusional to the mix, too.

Are you ready for winter to be over? It is 95 degrees here today. I am happy to see spring, but I am hoping this is not a sign of things to come!

P.S. A new monthly blog giveaway starts at midnight! : )

My Valentine’s Day

20140218-115823.jpg

I love a theme. It’s not that I love Valentine’s Day. Or really, that I even like it. But there is just something wonderful about a day devoted to love. And I absolutely adore when people give into a day and support the theme. In this case, pink or red. I purchased this Free People bright pink caftan and I knew I wanted to wear it specifically for Valentine’s Day. I loved wearing it. It made me feel, oh, so feminine.

I also purchased my husband a tie (clearanced to $10) that matched my dress perfectly. Remember, I love when we match, too.

Double theme. Check. Double nauseating. Check.

I was asked what I wore under this dress. It is extremely low cut, so I paired it with my eyelet bralette. It looks like a pretty supportive tank top.

My honey brought me roses. It is kind of an inside joke. Red roses. I will write about it some time.

My husband and I went out to lunch at our favorite restaurant. They have these fries. These fries. You guys, you have not had fries until you have had these fries. They take three days to make. It is a secret process. I have never had anything like them. You know what I’m craving now.

It was fun to see how different people interpreted Valentine’ Day through their clothing. My favorite was a little old woman in a pink shirt, red pants and flashing lit-up heart pins covering her bodice. It was awesome!

It was a beautiful day.

I had planned on making homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner, but my sweet mom dropped off a homemade chicken pot pie. It was so good. And much appreciated.

And I made these macadamia nut individual brown sugar cakes for dessert.

Did you have a good Valentine’s Day? A good weekend? What did you end up doing? Wearing?

If it wasn’t good, I hope this week is much better for you.

* P.S. I shared this on The Pleated Poppy!

Target, Let Me Count The Ways…

I love you! I was recently at Target to browse some items. I was looking for a white cotton dress I could stamp a gnome on. But I wandered into their clearance section and got lost.

I ended up spending $99.92 on three dresses, a denim vest and 2 dog toys.

I had a whole different post ready to run today, but decided to showcase my Target finds. Just in case you want to run out to the clearance section (maybe you have a horse obsession, too?). I bought all of these items this week.

You know I could not resist this dress. When I saw it, I just knew. It was a “Sleepless in Seattle” moment, without the weird stalking. It has horses on it! It was originally $24.99. It was marked down to $17.48. I am wearing a medium. I slipped my favorite $10 tulle slip on underneath it. I also paired it with Anthropologie’s Glasswork Obi belt. This will be super cute with black tights or leggings and boots in the wintertime. Add a colorful cardigan to raise the heat.

This bike dress is the same silhouette. It was also marked down from $24.99 to $17.48. I also paired it with the slip. I am wearing it with a Moroccan belt from a local boutique and vintage Frye cowboy boots. Because, of course, the horse dress should be worn with flats or sandals. And the bicycle dress should be worn with cowboy boots. It goes without saying…

I love whimsical bike prints. However, I will not spend a lot of money on bike prints. They make me feel guilty and kind of like an idiot. Because, you see…I cannot ride a bike. We grew up in the country. And there was really nowhere to learn. I am thinking about getting one of those adult tricycles. That would be fun!

The bike and horse dresses also came in a floral print. I ended up returning this dress, but wanted to show you another pattern it came in. I think this is the link to the dresses online, but they are not showing up on clearance here.

I cannot resist yellow. In fact, I would love to paint our front door yellow. But I have not checked with the home owner’s association. So, for now, I will wear it on my clothes. This eyelet dress was not on sale. But for $24.99, I could not resist it. I purchased a large, because I wanted it roomy. It is breathable cotton and I know it will wear and wash well.

I also knew this modest momma was not going to leave the house without something over it. So, I bought a little denim vest in medium. It was $29.99. I am in love with it! I am wearing this paired with vintage Frye cowboy boots and Anthropologie’s Beaded Stallion Head Necklace.

A squirrel! Oh, yes. They have been on my mind. And a bird! How cute are these dog chews? I bought one for each of our pups. They seem to enjoy them!

Poor things!

Have you found anything fantastic at Target recently? Please share! Also, if you see a plain cotton dress, with sleeves, please let me know! I only wish to spend around $20. I really want to start stampin’ my gnome!

Have a fantastic day!
