Flip Flop Applesauce, Blue and White Embroidery

I love blue and white together. It is such a classic combination. Add embroidery and my knees weaken. It is no wonder I possess no self control when I spy anything with my favorite pairing.

Enter Anthropologie’s Ping Maxi Skirt. I love the way Anthropologie styled the Ping Maxi Skirt with the chambray shirt. This skirt was a splurge. It is my favorite. I received 20% off of it. It still felt expensive, but it has since sold out in my size. I am happy I sprung on it. I paired it with the Daydrifter denim shirt from Anthropologie. It is made by Cloth and Stone. I used some of the money I had leftover from my flea market birthday trip to pay for the top. I am also wearing a sale belt from Nordstrom Rack, sandals and my necklace gifted to me from Simply Livly.

It is such an easy, breezy, feel good outfit. I love the way the skirt swooshes around my legs when I walk. And there is nothing more feminine, then going barefoot, and tucking your feet and skirt up into a chair with you. Then indulging in a good book.

Ahhhh. Heaven.

My mind started spinning. “I think I can create an exact opposite look from my closet,” I thought. My thoughts are deep. I took an embroidered shirt I purchased from Anthropologie five years ago (I cannot find the name of it.) and my $20 denim maxi score from last year. I added a different belt. But I wore the same sandals and necklace.

Viola! It’s an opposite replica. But not. An outfit from a different dimmension. Key in some eerie music.

Have you created an opposite look before? What was it? Which way was your favorite?

“You look like belong in a commune.” Sexy?

It turns out, I don’t know men at all. The following outfits were worn because I thought my husband would like them. I thought they were sexy. Turns out, I do not know what sexy is. Oh, okay I do. But I wanted it to not be tight and revealing. I am a modest girl.

In this outfit, I thought I looked like an innocent milk maid hippie. Which is totally sexy, right? In any case, I love this outfit. I am wearing Anthropologie’s Colima Maxi Skirt in green. It comes in four colors. The striped pattern is not a belt, but part of the skirt. I paired it with an older Anthropologie eyelet top (bought many years ago).

My husband looked at me and said, “You look like you belong in a commune.”

That is all I am going to say about that.

Are you ready for a showdown? I am. “Sexy cowgirl?” My husband shook his head no to that question. Just no. Well, okay. I still wore this outfit. I really liked it. I am wearing a maxi skirt from Anthropologie last year. I scored it for $20. I picked up the top for $15 at Nordstrom Rack. The belt was another clearance find from Anthropologie for $20. The Anthropologie necklace was a steal at $15, originally $58. And the vintage Frye cowboy boots were $50 at the flea Market. Making the outfit head to toe, $120. Not bad for a cowgirl. Giddeyup!

This dress was much more my husband’s taste. It is what I chose to wear when we went and saw Jim Gaffigan on a date night. He was so funny. This is the second time we have seen him live and it was well worth it. The dress was a third cut find from Anthropologie called Mural Maxi dress. Making it approximately 73% off. I just saw a size 10 last week at my store, so I know they are still out there. I also paired it with my Simply Livly necklace.

What have been some fun outfits you have worn lately?

* P.S. my husband is a super nice guy. The sweetest. What he lacks in tact, he makes up for with love. So, please take what he said with a smile. It had me rolling on the ground. Our sense of humor is a bit odd. It was meant to be funny.

Summer Loungin’

I am being good this month and not making any big purchases. I have only bought the
Paisley Trails blouse in white from Anthropologie for the $30 sale price. I have not received it yet, so I do not know how it will work. My sister gave me a $50 gift card to Anthropologie for Mother’s Day. Thanks Mandi! I bought the Geocut Patent Sandals with it in red. They are awesome!

We just put so much money into our house, I need to show self restraint. And I am.

So sad to be an adult.

July is my birthday month. But I am holding out for a good sale on some items I want. I might be boring then, as well. Of course, it is Comic Con in July, so it should be five days of fun outfits! I have them all planned out. I do not dress up in a costume. But I dress up in fun. Yes, I said, “in fun.”

So, I am loungin’. Summer has started. My in-laws are here. I took these pictures last week, because there is no way my mother-in-law is catching me taking photos of myself. I would look like a crazy person.

Yeah, I know.

Anyhoo, this week, I am showing the dresses I wear around the house or for quick trips to the grocery store. I adore Anthropologie’s lounge section. I always wear their chemises out of the house.

I am naughty that way.

In this picture, I am wearing Anthropologie Tilda Chemise. I bought this a couple of months ago. I think it is sold out now. Here is the link, but I think it is dead.

It is so comfy. It has the brightest blue stripes. It washes and dries well.

This is a chemise I have left over from my heavier days. It is Anthropologie Cinch & Flow Maxi Chemise. I used to wear this as pool cover up, because it was see through in my larger size. But now the extra fabric acts as a barrier. I think.

This is not a chemise. It is a Johnny Was dress I purchased at Christmastime. I believe it was called Cassie Short Sleeved Maxi. It is no longer being sold. Johnny Was has so many cute things right now, but I am being a good girl. Here is a link to their website.

I love the grey with the colorful embroidery. It is casual and pretty.

The necklace I am wearing in the pictures was gifted to me from Simply Livly on Etsy. It is called Yellow Linen Wood Necklace With Cream Ribbed Organic Cotton. I LOVE it. I am wearing it with a Target clearance dress from awhile back, in the picture above. It makes even the most casual outfit pop. Thank you Pam!

Are you lounging around this summer? What is your favorite piece to wear?

Older Outfit Photos

We are in the process of a mini home facelift. My house is a disaster zone. Every single piece of furniture has been moved away from the walls. My dresser drawers are overflowing in my living room. There are stacks of towels and bowls all over the kitchen countertop. And it is extremely stressful.

But, also, I am secretly loving it. I get to be lazy and messy. With good reason. Kind of lovely with the kids having their last week of school.

I am hiring everybody individually. It is a high-wire act of timing. I have to schedule the next guy to come at the perfect time following the previous job. If not, we might never exit this overflowing mound of chaos.

What is my point?

Well, I have not been too concerned about my outfits this week. Oh. That is not true. But I have not really taken pictures or had room to take pictures. Or found the camera in this craziness to take pictures.

Sorry.

I do, however, have a backlog of photos I have not posted yet. They are from the beginning of the year.

First up is the Free People Tuxedo Top. I love this top. There is something very feminine about a woman wearing a “tuxedo” top. Why is that? I am generally not a jeans girl. However, this top changes my mind. I love the pop of yellow my Anthropologie bag gives to the outfit.

How have I not posted about this dress? I had to go back and check. Sure enough. Nothing! It is the Miles of Henley dress. I love this dress. I am about ten pounds heavier in the pictures above than I am now. It is the dress in my old header (which I just changed).

The dress is a fantastic price. It comes in so many great colors. I am obsessed with the new rust orange. I might have to own three of these. I all ready own it in charcoal and rosewood. The bottom is really long. The great thing about this, is it fits all heights. The hem is unfinished, so you can just cut it to the length that fits you best.

I love these leggings. I pair them with my black Anthropologie jersey dress from many years ago. They are Modcloth Fresh Take Leggings in Fauna. They are sold out, but they have some adorable ones with a swan print. And they are cheaper than the fauna ones were!

Okay, that is all for today. Back to our hovel:

Here is a peek of what we are living in. It should be back to normal soon. Right? Right?

I hope your day is wonderful!
