Anthropologie Reviews Fall 2013

I went on a return run to Anthropologie. It was fun. I took back some items that I have never worn that have just been hanging in my closet from this summer. I have never done fitting room pictures or picture reviews before. But I figured, what the heck? I always like to see the clothes on a “real” girl. This will not be a reoccurring post. I do not get to a brick and mortar store, but a few times a year. Maybe once a season. I felt a little naughty and weird, taking photos of myself in the dressing room. Oh, the things I do for this blog. ; ). Warning: this post is photo heavy!

First up is this sweater dress called Petalblush Sweater Dress. I really liked this dress. It was super flattering and comfortable. I tried on the small and the medium. I am wearing the medium in the pictures. The small fit great, except the arms were tight. But it is the size I would probably purchase.

I really do not like the detailing at the bottom. It looks like a muppet tragedy.

The back is so cool. It is a shame that the bottom of the dress could not follow suit. Still a love, but at $200, I am waiting for sale.

I then tried on The Sketchbook Dress. It is so fun and versatile. It has forests and fortresses on it. They did not have my usual size 8. I tried on the 6 and it fit perfectly. I love this dress. It is so easy. This lovely came home with me.

Can I truly be a “gnome lover” and not own a mushroom blouse? This top is unbelievably lovely. I am wearing a size 6. This top is also insanely expensive. It is called Toadstool Blouse. It is silk with beautiful beading details. I am wearing it with a Holding Horses skirt that was on sale for $10. The skirt was a no brainer, but when they removed the sensor tag at checkout, it revealed a giant round stain where the sensor tag had been. The sales associate informed me all of the skirts had been marked that way (hence the $10 price tag). It was a giant bummer. I did not buy the flawed skirt.

This skirt is beautiful. It is called Emeline Tulle Skirt. This skirt made me smile. The zipper was broken on this one. It is a size 6. It was a little large on me. I was able to slip it up and down without any problem. Super pretty for the more feminine among us. I would buy this for a great sale price!

This top was pretty.. The top is called Ruched Ribbon Top (thanks Jules). It is purple with pretty ribbon details. This would also make a great sale purchase. I will save this on my wishlist.

This top is adorable. Yep. That’s the word. It is the Nora Peplum Top. It is wonderful. It felt big in my usual medium, but when I sized down to a small, the arms felt too tight. I loved this blouse, and the medium happily came home with me. Let us wave good bye to my September budget.

I will wear this with my Mothers brand jeans that I just got on sale for $40, marked down from $198. Sorry I am not a great photographer. And please ignore my messy house in the background. It’s on my to do list. ; )

Thus, we conclude my quick shopping jaunt. But I also took some pictures of some pretties around the store:

Have you ventured to the dreaded dressing room lately? What did you try on?

P.S. Roxy at Effortless Anthropologie also did some reviews this week. I love her take on some of Anthropologie’s new dresses!

Back To School Shopping

Four words a mother dreads.

I try to find the best deals. With two kids to purchase school supplies and new wardrobes for, that is important.

In my opinion, Staples is the best place for supply deals. You can check out their ad online. They have free items after rebates.*** (There is more information about this at the bottom of the post if you wish to do this.). You just enter information online to get a rebate check back for the amount you paid. This week, composition books are .10 cents a piece (limit 3 with $5 purchase. They are also doing a $20 rebate on a case of five reams of paper, making the final price $4.99). Most rebates take 6-8 weeks to get back to you. Target has great savings on colored pencils, crayons, erasers, and markers. And, of course, Walmart always has decent prices.

Check out some cool items I have picked up the kids this summer in anticipation of them going back to school:

A Fantastic Gap Spree. I purchased most of my son’s back to school pieces for $135 (for twelve items. This photo would be much more impressive, if half of the items were not in the wash. ; ). ) during their big additional 40% off clearance sale. I love their shorts for him. I think they fit true to size.

20130819-102953.jpg

My daughter’s pair of J Brand Rozz Moto jeans from Nordstrom Rack were not as good of a sale find. They were still 62% off. Gwen Stefani has worn the Rozz Moto jeans a couple of times. High school is hard. I want her to be confident. These are adorable. And she’s a good kid.

20130819-131228.jpg

I scored her this polka dot dress at Forever 21 for $5. And the cute tie-dyed chambray shirt for $11. The white tuxedo shirt was $9.

20130819-154435.jpg

These awesome Comic Character Converse are currently on sale at Famous Footwear in their clearance section. They also had Batman (my daughter got these) and The Joker (my husband could not resist them for himself). When we purchased these, they were also doing buy one get one 50% off with a 20% off additional coupon.

20130819-102852.jpg

Also, they had these shoes my son informed me were very Minecraft inspired. The brand is Osiris. Good thing the above deal was in effect!

20130819-102826.jpg

Also, Costco is the place for kid’s fashion jeans. I purchased my son four pairs of Buffalo jeans to carry him into the next year for $16.99 each. They currently have Levi’s for a steal for the younger boys and girls. They also have brand name jeans for men and women. I buy all of my husband’s Lucky Brand jeans there. Unfortunately, my daughter cannot buy jeans there. Can you believe they only carry size 2 and up? What about the petites?

20130811-174916.jpg

And just because I think this is hilarious. Check out my son’s new sunglasses. I could not figure out what was on them until I realized he “MacGuyvered” the broken frames together with tape. I tried them on. You cannot see through that eye. Now I’m off to ask what the heck happened to them.

Have you scored any good sales on kids’ items lately? I am always looking for a deal.

***A note about Staples’ rebates: They take about two minutes online to fill out. They will send a confirmation of processing to your email. You generally have two options for payment. These are: rebate check and Paypal. I have always done check. The check will arrive in the mail looking like a piece of trash. Or a flyer. It is small and pink. That is your check! Do not throw it away! There is no envelope. Also, the $20 rebate currently for the ream of paper is processed for a prepaid Visa card. If you do not want that option, you can change it to a check. Just look for that button before you process it. Hope that helps!

It’s The Little Things: Getting Your Hair Done

20130806-160445.jpg

I feel like the biggest dork doing a post on this, but I am bursting with excitement! I have been really depressed this week. The kids going back to school is looming. I spent three days in a row in pajamas. The same pajamas. I knew I needed something to snap me out of my funk.

20130806-160556.jpg

I got my hair done! This may not seem like a big deal. But, believe me, it is. First, I am cheap about my hair. I only get it done every three months. It had been five months since I had had my hair colored and cut. I had been putting it off. I have had the same hair dresser for ten years. I loved her, but some things changed. I will not write about the circumstances. It is not my story to tell. But it was an agonizing decision for me.

20130806-160522.jpg

So, two days ago, I went to a new hair dresser recommended to me by my good friend ( thank you forever, Bridgette!). I love her! It is a huge relief to have finally made a decision. And have the outcome be good. At least, to me. I left happy. It just felt better to get my split ends cut off.

20130806-160659.jpg

I feel refreshed. Reenergized. Like myself again. I just wanted to share.

It’s the little things: A haircut. Who knew?

P.S. Just in case you wanted to know: the outfit is mostly Free People. It is Free People’s Trapeze slip in seafoam (I believe that is the color. I purchased it a long time ago. That color is now gone, but there are a lot of different colors still available). The top is called Golden Age Top. The jeans are ten years old from The Gap. The lace shoes are from H & M last year. The necklace is my daughter’s. And I totally copied the layering look from the Free People Me stylist pictures. ; )
