Sorry for another outfit post. I am trying to get through my summer pictures. My mom will be happy. She loves the outfit posts the most.
I could not recall the name of this dress that I purchased last year. I had originally styled it like Mary on Happily Grey, on my older blog post here, but I had wanted to try it exclusively with gold and pink this time. Make it my own.
I found the name of the dress. And it made me smile, because I had picked this dress out of my closet that day simply to ease a heavy heart.
The dress is called, “With A Light Heart Dress.” I am sure it is sold out by now because when I purchased it in 2013, it was all ready 66% off. I bet it can be found on eBay. I cannot guarantee the light heart, though (I am not linking to a similar dress because I honestly could not find one similar enough to warrant a link and I do not like to add links simply for the sake of clicks).
The necklace is Anthropologie’s Lace Flag Necklace from last year. It is surprisingly hard to find pink jewelry. I am happy I picked this up. The shoes can be found here.
It seems silly, but I was thrilled to get a compliment on this outfit earlier in the day.
A woman stopped me when I was with my son and said, “I like your son-”
And I thought to myself, She likes my son? That is odd.
But then she finished. “I like your son-dals. And your whole outfit is just so cute.”
I thanked her and soared inside, both from the compliment and the fact that my son was not being strangely commented upon.
Another silly thing is this bracelet. I love it. I purchased it from Anthropologie when it hit sale with my husband’s initial. However, it is the only piece of jewelry that has ever turned my skin green.
But I still wear it.
‘Cause green skin is kinda cool. I do like to channel my inner Hulk, after all.
Not really, but I do wear it for short periods of time because I really like the bracelet.
Have you ever had jewelry that turned your skin green? Did you still wear it? Do you compliment strangers? I try to always compliment one elderly woman every time I leave the house. One time I was in an airport and I accidentally kicked the poor lady with my shoe when I tried to tell her I loved her dress. She probably did not appreciate that compliment so much.
I hope I did not give her a green bruise.
Maybe this bracelet is compliment karma.
Or some such light hearted nonsense.
I ❤️ your outfit posts too!!! Compliments (giving and receiving) are the best!
Thanks Lyn. I will gladly take your sweet compliment. : )
Have a fun Friday!

Ohhh, I am loving this outfit. So soft. I love the length/hem of this dress, and the pink necklace with it! Yeah, I am awkward with complimenting strangers too.
Thanks Heather! I am awkward all of the time. When I compliment strangers it draws me out of my shell a little. Although sometimes I really mess it up!
Have a cheerful Friday!

You might try painting the inside of the bracelet with clear nail polish, I’ve done this with cheap earrings, as I’m allergic to the nickel they’re made of. It might help!?! Cute dress 🙂
That is so so brilliant! Thank you for that tip! I am definitely doing that. You are so awesome to tell me that! And thanks about the dress! : )
Have a marvelous Friday!

I’m with Heather — love the soft, feminine tones and the low/high length of the dress coupled with the sandals and gorgeous hair! This is Jenni to perfection.
Thanks Angela! : ). I really appreciate that, especially since I am wearing my hair like that right at this moment.
Thanks for making my night!
Have a fabulous Friday!

Beautiful outfit. I especially like the necklace. Pink! Wonderful!
A lady told me she liked my dress yesterday, and it made me feel good. I was thinking that I should make more of a point of complimenting other people (random people). I love that you try to compliment at least one elderly lady each time you leave the house.
Thank you Liana! I love that necklace. I wear it far too often as I have a post coming up soon where I am wearing it again. I love giving (and getting ; ) ) compliments. It feels good to make someone smile. You are always so sweet to me.
Have a terrific Friday!

The delicate pink embroidery on the dress and necklace are so pretty.I so love that your shoes are so unique and go with absolutely everything.
I compliment strangers all of the time. I can’t help it. It either just flies out of my mouth when I see a woman looking great or I need to explain why I am staring at them with a silly grin on my face. I have never had anyone respond negatively and I like it when a stranger compliments me randomly. Life is so much better with compliments, isn’t it!! xo
Thank you so much Cynthia! I have never had anyone respond negatively either. I do not even know what I would do if that happened! I can completely see you spreading love to everybody! You are a sweetheart.
Have a fantastic Friday!

beautiful!!!
Thanks Melodee! : )
Have a great Friday!

You look so pretty in these pictures and the dress.
I compliment women on their clothing a lot and tend to end with, “May I ask you where you got it?” A long time ago I thought “may I ask” sounded better than, “where did you get it?”
I have never had a piece of jewelry turn green on me yet. Your bracelet looks like brass, so I wonder if that metal is the culprit?
Have a nice evening,
Stacey
I like how you phrase your question. It sounds so sophisticated. I am going to try to phrase it that way from now on, too. I do think the bracelet is brass, so that might be it. It is a bummer.
Thank you for the compliments! : )
Have a lovely Friday!

Thank you sweetie!!! You made your mom’s day!!! Such a whimsical airy dress. Just beautiful!! Love you lots
Thanks Mom! I miss you! : )
Have fun this weekend with my nephew! We had such a great time with him yesterday.

Now that I know you only compliment old ladies I’m very wary if you ever compliment me again! LOL
The cost per wear on those sandals must be zero by now. They go with everything.
The dress looks very swishy. I love a good swish.
bisous

Ha! I don’t only compliment old ladies. Just when I am out and about town I make a point to hone in on one. I feel the younger gals always get compliments but the older gals might not. I do compliment teenagers, too. I pretty much compliment everyone. But I do go out of my way to find one elderly lady a day.
Thanks about the sandals. I agree. I wear them all of the time. Even though they were expensive, I think they were definitely worth it.
Have a great rest of your Sunday!

AAHHHHH!! This is a new favorite. It must be the pink. And the crochet necklace. And the gauzy, romantic, flowing fabric. Basically I’m in love with everything about this. So romantic. I must try to replicate this look because I love the mood of it.
I have quite a few pieces of jewelry that turn my skin green, but only when it’s ungodly hot and I’m sweating. It’s strange. My mom says it’s something to do with our body chemistry, as it happens to her, too. It has ruined a couple necklaces because it develops some green crust and starts to break down. Maybe I’m a mutant? I’ve thrown those out, but I have a couple necklaces that have only hurt me and not been hurt in return, so I keep them around. Because I am a glutton for punishment.
I do compliment people on the street and do my best to accept compliments graciously as well. Sometimes I want to joke about it, but I’d feel embarrassed paying a compliment to someone who responded that way, so I try to kindly accept the compliment without turning awkward. It is difficult. I’ve not kicked someone while complimenting them, but I’m sure it’s just on the horizon. Awkward and a klutz. That’s me!

Thank you so much Liz! I am glad you like this outfit. I am reinlove with this dress. It is fun to be that way with an item in my closet. I am going to try the clear nail polish trick that Tatiana suggested. I love that bracelet so it is worth a shot. I had a different sort of reaction tonight as I am allergic to watermelon and grabbed a plate with the juice on it. My whole hand got itchy and swollen. Ugh! The stresses of sensitive skin.
I felt horrible when I kicked that lady. Now I make sure I stand back when I compliment someone. Although I still remember what she was wearing. It was so rad. A Matrix style coat and tall black boots. It was awesome.
Have a happy Wednesday!
