Free People Mia Ruffle Dress

Two outfit posts in one week? What is this blog coming to. ; )

Well, tomorrow a post is going up about a charity event I went to two weeks ago. It is run by some of my lovely friends, Kathy and Mark. I wanted to show what I wore, but as hard as I tried, what I wore did not fit into the soul of that post. That post is not about me. I want it to be about the event and the cause. So, I am showing you what I wore today. Because I know my fashion friends would want to know. And I adore this dress. It is Free People’s Mia Ruffle Dress in ecru. I wanted to not ignore it.

There will be some “action” (aka me eating) shots of the dress at the event tomorrow. Please tune in to the post to see them! And to just witness a beautiful night for a beautiful cause.

Here is the dress the way I would have worn it had it not been chilly that evening. I am wearing a medium. I paired it with my Simply Livly Turquoise Necklace. I also wore my vintage Frye cowboy boots. The event was casual. This is me doing evening casual.

But it was chilly. I ended up wearing this citron Free People sweater over it that I purchased at Nordstrom Rack last month (I cannot find it online). My sweet mom had given me a gift card there for no reason other than that she loves me. Isn’t that so lovely? Thank you Mom! Your gift kept me warm and I think it is so pretty!

Rose Bowl Flea Market Part II

What did I end up purchasing? I am afraid it is not overtly exciting.

I did find my petticoat. Of sorts. More like a tulle slip. This grey-green find was $8. I would never really wear it like this. But I wanted to show what it looked like. And it is sheer. Key in adding a dress underneath for this photo. I will wear it under dresses in the wintertime.

I also found this really cool army green table runner. I love the white design on it.

And I found this neat vintage fabric. It used to be a skirt of a woman in a village in Thailand.

I am going to combine them into one giant pillow. It will look something like this. Can you picture it?

I also purchased the coolest piece of furniture. At a fantastic price. The couple we purchased it from were some of the nicest people I have ever met. I am bummed, because I have forgotten the name of their shop. They were so sweet. They were dressed up in cool vintage clothes. The guy helped my husband wheel the piece of furniture all the way to our car. He would not accept a tip. Just really great, good people. I hope their shop does well.

We got it home. The piece of furniture would not fit anywhere. Bummer! But I know a family member who is going to have an awesome Christmas present!

This is just a sneak peak. I know they read this blog. I do not want them to see the whole thing.

And we ate burritos at the place near the vintage clothes. I know they do not look fantastic, but I had to share. Sorry, I took a bite of each before I remembered I was supposed to take a photo. The chicken one was very dry. But the bean burrito was so good. I have not stopped thinking about it. I am a bean burrito junkie. And this one was the best one I have ever had. It has been a month and I still cannot stop thinking about it. If you head to the flea market, I suggest you try a bean burrito! Yum!

So, that completes my day. It was very hot. Super fun. And exhausting.

Rose Bowl Flea Market Part I

My kids were camping with their grandparents. My friends had given me money to spend at the flea market. My husband had the day off. Check. Check. Check.

And we were off.

I love the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I do not find that the deals are better here than other places. Probably quite the opposite. But it is huge. So there is a huge selection of stuff.

The problem is, I have a lot of stuff. And I have a tiny house. So on this trip, I was pretty much looking for a petticoat and fabric to make pillows.

Did I find what I was looking for? I’ll show you what I scored tomorrow.

Today, I wanted to share pictures of the items found around the flea market. There are a lot of odd things to be found. Which makes it so much fun!

Poor Guy! He reminds me of Disneyland (the Country Bear Jamboree).

“Everybody Loves Raymond,” anyone? These ones were really expensive.

I thought this couch was fun!

So pretty!

Because I live to give you nightmares.

Here’s one more.

Oh! These old school chairs are amazing!

This lamp would have been so rad with a different shade and perhaps a different color. When I went back to show my husband, it was gone.

Where would you put this?

I want to suck your blood? Same question as above.

I loved this, too. Again, small house problems. No room.

I wanted this bird. Badly. I walked by this stall three different times. No shop owner. Darn! It would have been so cool in so many different ways!

I could not resist snapping some pictures of some gnomes. I did not buy any. They were all too pricy. This guy was snoozing in the flea market. He missed the whole thing.

I loved these giant cement gnomes. They were spendy at $100 each. I probably could have haggled. I am sure someone gave them a loving home. But they are my one regret from the trip.

And let’s conclude with a cool carpet chest! I almost bought that guy, but fifty years of carpet… Hmmmm… Tomorrow, I will show my few purchases I made. Until then, have a great day!
