I’m Walking In Sunshine Skirt

When I bought this Colorblock skirt from Free People last year, I was so excited. The colors were brilliant and it was 75% off. I previously wore it here and here..

It has always reminded me of Anthropologie’s Field of Vision Skirt. I missed out on that one, but Mary from Happily Grey styled that skirt gorgeously a few months ago. I like how she wore it with a vest. I plan to do that in the fall with this skirt, as well.

I like how it transitions into every season. Every season deserves some sunshine.

I cannot resist a maxi skirt. There’s just something about a long skirt that makes my knees weak.

That is not my hair sticking out at the top of my head, by the way. That is me with an unfortunate tree made of twigs right behind my head. This venturing out of the house thing is happening in baby steps.

Let’s talk products:

The Colorblock Skirt is sold out on the Free People website. But it is still available from a different retailer here. A similar coin necklace is being sold right now through Free People. My coin necklace was care of Free People for being involved in the Free People Me program. The silver sandals are from Anthropologie. The shirt was from Anthropologie many years ago.

Whew! That was a mouthful. Or is it handful, since I am writing it? Hmmmm.

Do you have a piece of clothing that transitions into every season? What is it? I think I might style this skirt with my Daydrifter Denim Shirt next. What do you think?

  1. My <3 skipped a beat or two or three when I saw these beautiful pictures taken in 'our' skirt! What a lovely backdrop for your photos. I am really enjoying your outside shoots. You look so happy and carefree and 'Free People-ish' in them.

    • Yea! I thought of you when I was doing this post. I hope you still are liking your skirt as much as I like mine. Did you finish the other one? I want to wear this skirt all of the time! : )

Thanks again! Have a beautiful week!

  2. I just love maxi skirts and dresses too! I believe they are all seasons, with the exception of a really tropical print – that would not work well in Michigan winters. I love the field of yellow for your photos too!

    • Thank you Heather! I agree most of them work for all seasons. That is one of the many reasons they are my favorite. I do not think I own a tropical skirt. Isn’t that weird? Or tropical anything. Hmmmm.

      Have a fantastic week!

  3. Gasp! Beautiful! So which inspired which? Did you see the field of flowers and think – skirt? Or did you look for a backdrop for the skirt specifically? You’ve got to record video next time you are out!!! You already look like you are in a film! love love love

    • Thanks Cynthia! We actually were driving and saw the field. I said, “stop the car! This will be perfect for my skirt.” But my husband did not want to because there was a man working nearby. Anyway, we did. But there were fire ants everywhere. That was the fastest photo shoot in the world. I cannot believe we got any useable photos!

      Have a fun week!

    • Thank you! I appreciate that. I could not believe that it was still on sale when I bought it. I love a deal!

Thanks again! Have a gorgeous week!

  4. love that skirt! you look so pretty in that field of flowers! pretty much everything I purchase from antho comes off the clearance rack (which is usually at the end of or off season)….so I always find a way to pair my goods with tights and boots or sandals, haha!

    • Thanks Melodee. Isn’t that the truth? Luckily we live in California, but I have some cardigans I cannot wait to wear in the fall that I got on clearance at the end of the season! And I know there are dresses I will have to wait awhile on. But it is worth it for the savings!

      Have an awesome week!

  5. Pretty shots! I love the skirt, very fun. I have always loved yellow, but can not wear it close to my face, so I never seem to buy it. What a great find!

    • Thanks Alicia. I feel that way about maroon. I do not think I can wear that close to my face either. It was a fun find! So happy with it! : )

Thank you again! Have a terrific Tuesday!

  6. This skirt is one of my favorite from your closet, and I immediately remembered your other outfits featuring it when this post popped up on my feed. It’s such a sunny, happy piece. Not just because of the yellow and orange, but because of the billowy crinkly fabric, and the free-spirited 60’s vibe. The setting, with you twirling through the field, completes the look perfectly. I’ve only recently started wearing maxis, but I’m on a roll. I’ve picked up a skirt and two dresses in the last couple of weeks, and I’m nowhere near satisfied. I like their bohemian feel, but they have a casual elegance to them as well. Two of the pieces have really vivid tropical floral prints, so I’m not sure I’ll get much wear out of them in the cooler months, but they’ll definitely get plenty of wear during the Spring, Summer, and early Fall.

    • Thank you Liz! I am lovin’ all of your maxis. They are my favorites. I love the way they swoosh around my legs. It is so silky and makes me feel more feminine than anything else. The tropical prints sound fun. I cannot wait to see those styled.

Thank you again! Have a wonderful week!

    • Thank you! The skirt reminds me of summer. It feels like summer, too. It is a really great cotton. I am so glad you like it. It definitely reminds me of a skirt you would wear. I hope you are feeling well!

      Have a happy Tuesday!

    • Thank you Jac! : ). I am getting there. Although, tomorrow’s post, I am back in front of the good ol’ fireplace. I do have a different outdoor post going up on Sunday.

      Have a fun week!

  8. Wow. I am so impressed with your efforts to take photos in new settings. That field of flowers is so beautiful. It’s the perfect backdrop for your skirt. I like how you kept this outfit simple so the colour could pop.

    • Thank you Liana. I think I was just lucky. I keep things simple most of the time. I have been trying to layer more jewelry. But it is hard for my minimalistic jewelry heart.

Hey, have you read Brandon Sanderson? He is one of my favorites. I just read Steelheart last night. I really liked it. Have you read it?

      Have sweet dreams! : )
