Oh, Paisley Dress, you have me torn.
I purchased this Free People Paisley Dress from the Nordstrom Rack awhile back (link goes to a different site). And I really liked it.
Except, after wearing it for a day I realized the pattern (on the dress I purchased) does not sit correctly in the middle. Which is probably why I paid so little for it.
My OCD self tried to ignore this. I had all ready worn it, so I had to keep it. Despite that flaw, I still like the dress. It can be worn with a slip and sandals. And in the winter time, skinny jeans and boots. The colors are ethereal.
I also liked my hair… Until my daughter came home. I just knew she was going to love my hair. I was so excited to show her.
I said, “Do you like my hair? I tried something different.”
And she said, “Oh. You wanted to look like Miley Cyrus?”
Argggghhhh! Aaaahhhhhh! My OCD self officially withered into a ball but not before I tore the hairstyle out and put it lower on the nape of my neck.
Have you ever really liked something you were wearing? Or a new hairstyle you were trying? And then hours later completely second guessed yourself?
It happens to me all of the time.
But that’s just part of the fun.
soooooo cute! love the shoes and the hair, as well! happy weekend 🙂
Thank you Melodee. I appreciate that. It actually was a very nice relaxing day. We haven’t had that in awhile and it was marvelous. I even got to read a bit of a book! : )
I hope you have a great rest of the long weekend!
Jenni
That dress is really cute on you and the print looks like it was suppose to be that way.
I second guess myself all the time. I hate it when I think I look pretty good, only to see a picture of myself later and think, “what happened?”
Have a nice weekend,
Stacey
Thank you Stacey. I definitely was second guessing myself. The print is just slightly crooked. Probably only noticeable to me. : ). Thanks for making me feel better about it.
Have a lovely week!

I had to look pretty hard before I realized what you’re talking about with the dress. I think it looks beautiful on you. I also liked your hair, although I would have described it as Sailor Moon hair. 😉
Thank you! My daughter loves Sailor Moon. I will have to tell her that. Maybe it will make her like that hairstyle. : )
Thank you again! Sweet dreams!
Jenni
You look adorable.
Thank you Brynne. That is so nice of you. And thank you for commenting. I really do appreciate it. : )
Have a cheerful week!

This happens to me more than I would like. Honestly, I can’t see what you are describing. It’s a very pretty paisley! I like how you paired it with the silver sandals! So summery and light!
Thank you Cynthia. Hmmm. No one see it. Maybe it is supposed to be that way! That would make me so happy! : ). Those silver sandals have been such a great purchase. I wear them everywhere. So comfy!
Have a happy week!

I love that dress! It is so pretty. I think it looks great. I put together outfits that I love all the time, and than second guess them. But, this outfit, it’s a good one!
Have a great weekend!
Thank you Alicia. I do that all the time. And then if I really like an outfit, I will wear it multiple times during the week. Because if I think it works, then it makes me happy. And then I get scared to try anything else. I want to figure out another way to wear this.
Thank you again! Have a super week!

I didn’t even notice the uneven print Jenni, but I know how you feel. I bought an aztec print peplum top from a local boutique a few months ago. It was on super sale and I didn’t try it on until I got home. Then I noticed the print was off center – a little harder to hide when you feel like you have lopsided boobs! I gathered my courage to go back and exchange it for a different one that was much better. But now I feel that any time I go in that store, the girls know who I am. All weirdness in my head I am sure.
Thank you Heather. I know how you feel. I always think the sales people remember me, too, but I don’t think they do. Or at least not in a bad way, hopefully. I am glad you exchanged the shirt. That would not have been good at all! And you probably never would have worn it. That would have been a bummer. I once read the funniest story in a Laurie Notaro book about her getting stuck in a shirt in a boutique store. It made me cry laughing so hard.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Such a drag with an article of clothing when a detail like that gets missed. This happened with one skirt I bought from Anthro and I had to fix it by adding a zipper to the back.
I too used to wear my hair in buns at the top. Haven’t done it for ages though. I’m just lazy when it comes to new hair styles. I think this is cute on you.
bisous

Yes. A drag! It is disheartening to find a flaw in something you really love. I thought it was more of a Star Wars hairdo so I was sad my daughter did not see it. Thanks for the compliment on it.
I hope you had a great trip. And I hope we get to see pictures. I would love to see the flea market!
Jenni
I didn’t see the dress ‘print flaw’ until you mentioned! You look great 🙂
Thank you so much! : ). That is sweet and I very much appreciate it!
Have a beautiful week!

Don’t be silly – sometimes, imperfections make things more beautiful! That’s definitely the case with this dress. Maybe the dress made its way to you to help you battle your OCD, sort of little by little? 😉 And your hairstyle is ADORABLE! Don’t listen to teenagers! You look like a hot Star Trek chick with that hair, I wanna know how you did it to make it all cone-shaped like that – like Angelina’s hair in the Maleficent posters!
I like it. You always put things into perspective. Thanks for the hairdo compliment, too. It was so fun to do. I was trying to recreate a look Phoebe wore on Friends but my hair is too thin. I bet you could get a thicker point because you have thicker hair than me. My daughter’s hair is too thick to do this to. She would fall over! Man, I would love her hair!
Thanks again! Have a wacky in the best possible way Wednesday!

I didn’t even notice the pattern was off until you mentioned it. But still, the print has such a kaleidoscopic quality anyways that I would still dig it. I like seeing you in these pale hues. With the hanky hem, it’s very dreamy and ethereal. And I adore your hair! It suits you! I get that it’s a bit quirky, but it’s fun! It totally works on you because it seems so “you”. Sometimes I feel like when I’m around new people in a flashy outfit or hairstyle that I have to put a disclaimer on it: “If you knew me, you’d get it. It suits me.” But unfortunately, I’d look insane and really pompous if I said that. So I just sport my style…though sometimes self-consciously…haha

Thank you, Liz! I like your “kaleidoscope quality” term. I never thought of it that way before. You made me like it even more! And thanks about the hairstyle. I thought it was fun. And I like how you think about it. I am sometimes self conscience, too. But I do not care what other people wear so I hope the same courtesy is extended towards me. You always look great so I am sure people are thinking there goes a hot chick! I wish I were as cool as her!
Have an enchanting evening!
