This is my second attempt at styling Free People’s New Romantics Rio Dress in the other color I purchased it in (the first dress can be found styled here). I love both of the dresses I purchased.
At first I liked the cream one better but I think now the black one has my heart.
I styled both of the dresses with Free People’s Trapeze Slip underneath. I like the extra coverage it provided and the color went great with both of them.
This dress is so much fun.
I cannot wait to wear it with tights and boots in the wintertime. I think I will like it even more then.
I paired the black dress with World Market’s friendship bracelets. I loved the dress’s embroidery paired with the textured color of the bracelets.
What’s a girl to do when she finds the perfect dress?
Twirl, baby. Twirl.
What is your perfect dress? Do you look for things with embroidery or are you more drawn to the clean and structured?
My heart like my mind is drawn to the unstructured. Probably because that is the way they are formed.

I LOVE the black dress! I wanted to ask you about the “Friendship Bracelets” from World Market – did you get them there recently? They would be cute with a lot of my stuff! I’m for all things embroidery, or crocheted!
Thank you so much Judi. I bought those bracelets about two weeks ago. And I think they had just come in. I used a coupon. I love them. One of the bracelets is actually a set of three clasped together with a leather clasp. The others are separate and have dangly ties. I put some of the separate ones on either side of the bundled leather clasped ones and then tied the ties together in the middle so that they would not dangle. That worked really well. I am glad you like them! I was actually a little more excited about sharing those than I was the dress. I hope you find them! Make sure you check for coupons before you go. I receiver their emails and get them there. But there is often one in the Sunday paper and Country Living Magazine.
Have a lovely day!

Thank you Dawn! I love Free People, too. I only discovered it about a year and a half ago and it definitely has changed my style.
Have a super Sunday!

Oh I love both colors! What a great dress! I go for a more structured dress – but with crazy patterns judging from my love of the Lavendel Dress at Anthro.
Thank you Cynthia! That dress is so you. I hope you get it! It would he amazing on you!
Hope you are having a great Sunday!

i’m glad you got both colours. The black one has a completely different feel. Love the friendship bracelets…takes me back to when I was a little kid making those!
Thank you Liana! I remember making those as a kid, too. But mine never looked that good!
Have a happy week!

Love everything about this! The hair, the dress, the sandals, the bracelets… CUTE!
I think I only own one embroidered item, a top that was a gift from Victor… I’m not sure why, but if I wear stuff in the embroidered style you wear – like a boss, might I just add! – , I just feel like I’m trying to pass myself off as someone I’m not. That make sense? I couldn’t possibly pick one perfect dress for LIFE, but this summer it was definitely my black Bermeja dress. Normally, I’d say I love structured dresses more, but that baby is just beyond perfect and awesome. We have good taste. 🙂
Thank you Gwen! I can see why you picked the Bermeja Dress. It is perfection on you. I feel the same way you do about embroidery with shiny necklaces. I admire them on other people, but then I put them on and I do not feel like me. I even bought one last year and tried for weeks to figure out what to wear it with, but now it just sits on my dresser. I could return it, but I still like it.
We do have good taste. ; ). I cannot wait to see the other one on you!
Have a great week!

How was the fit in this dress??
Hi Angela!
I took my usual size small in Free People. I am a size eight right now. I am a medium everywhere else. It is a swing style dress. I love it! It is great right now with tights!
Have a great week!
