Winners Of The Three Necklaces Giveaway And Cravings Gifts

The winners of the necklaces (picked from random.org) are Jo, Sharon and Lyn. Congratulations! I will get those out to you this week! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. And thank you to everyone who entered! I will have another giveaway coming up in December!

There are a ton of things on my wishlists, but it is the time of the year where it is about buying for others. That, coupled with the fact that I also have a few clothing related posts I will be publishing later in the week if all goes as planned (including a set of reviews going up tomorrow), means I don’t really feel much like talking about clothes today. Gasp! So, today let’s talk about gifts. Here are a few things I am excited about gifting this year. I cannot post a lot about gifts here, because my family reads this blog, but I will post a few things that they know they are getting or things I can recommend for a generic gift receiver:

I always get my son the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar. It is a fun way to countdown the time until Christmas. Yes, that is Darth Vader dressed as Santa Claus! I purchased mine at the beginning of November. I cannot believe it, but it is sold out online all ready. Amazon has it for a huge markup through a third party. I think that is ridiculous so I am not linking to it. I would recommend heading directly to your local Target or Walmart (our local Target was out of them as of yesterday) VERY soon to check their stock if you want one for your kiddos (definitely before Black Friday).

This year I was able to get my daughter Benefit’s Advent Calendar from Sephora during their 20% off promotion. It gets mixed reviews, but I think it looks perfect for a teenager. I also recognize that her gift cost double my son’s. I had to seriously question the purchase of this, but she is only living at home for a few more years. I want to spoil her while I can.

I cannot wait to watch both kids get their gifts and countdown the holiday!

I do not burn candles a lot. I cook way too much to do so. I like the smell of food baking and cooking much better than any candle. The candles I do purchase are, surprise!, food based. My newest favorite scent is the Oatmeal Cookie Candle from Anthropologie. I have been on a roasted chicken phase here (I still cook when I am sick. Moms cannot take a day off. I think it is about time we went on strike), so I have not burnt this yet. But it is sitting on my counter waiting for a day when we finally get take out.

I gift and get these duvet slippers every year. They are simply the best. Like pillowy clouds upon your feet. I highly recommend them. I have been purchasing them for years.

As a little girl, one of the best parts about the holidays were the Lindt Truffles my grandmother would leave out in candy dishes throughout her home. They were not as available back then as they are now. It was a big treat. I like to give these chocolates as gifts. Right now Costco has these giant bags filled with about fifty truffles for $6.99 (for a very limited time). I may or may not have purchased four and have two left. Don’t count on these as gifts, folks. Or buy more than I did. The peanut butter truffle?! I swoon. I need to go pick up more!

What is a generic gift that you always give out? I would love more ideas. I also like to buy colorful colanders on clearance at Marshall’s, etc. and fill it with a pretty kitchen towel, and goodies (perhaps some Lindt Truffles if you have more willpower than me). Tie it with a bow around the handles and you can punch a hole through a gift card and attach it to the bow. Phew! That was quite a visual. I will have to make one up and show you a finished colander soon.

  1. Wait! Me? Did I win?? Yay! I adore this giveaway!! Thank you Jenni! I hope you are starting to feel better!! I just saw that lego Advent set at toys r us this weekend! I did not get it for my son. I got him the camper & canoe set. He’s only 5 so if we get too big of sets they get started then not finished. Lulu is only 3 so no makeup for her yet.

My generic go-to gift is usually a length of flannel that i’ve cut into scarves & fringed. Or beer. Everyone I know likes beer, so that’s a good one 🙂 thanks a bunch Jenni!

    • Yes, you won! : ). I am mailing it out to you tomorrow. I will email you once I do. I like the idea have flannel cut into scarves. I have been wanting to make a flannel vest. How hard do you think that would be? I am awful at finishing projects!

      Congratulations! Have a sweet Wednesday!

  2. I frequently give out candles I purchase from a company called Trimmings. They have a scent called pecan sandies that smells wonderful and I have been told by numerous people that these candles fill the whole house with a wonderful scent.

  3. Jenni, do the duvet slippers run true to size? I am looking for winter slippers and would love to try these, they look super cozy–however, the webpage says that a size Small fits women’s 7-8, and I wear a size 5…

    • Hi! Great question! So, I wear a size 7.5-8 and I have always bought the mediums for myself. However, my daughter wears a size 6 and received a size small. She fit into them fine, but I can also wear them, albeit a bit snuggly. So, if you do not mind a bit of room, I would say the small fit a size 6.5-7 exactly. But I wear the medium and the oversize is fine in these slippers. They are so soft and billowy. It depends on how snug of a fit you want. I hope this helps! I want to buy some, too, but I am hoping they offer a free shipping code soon!

      Have a sweet Wednesday!

  4. Great gift ideas! I always stock up on the Lindt truffles for little gifts too. I didn’t know they came in peanut butter. OMG! I’ve given out variety packs of hot cocoa along with a fuzzy wintery throw. Also, all the great food items from World Market seem to be a hit. Some special chocolates and a pretty tin of tea or coffee in a cute gift bag is kind of fun.

    • Thank you Kerry! Oh! Those peanut butter truffles! They are different than others because they taste so authentically peanut buttery. They are my husband’s new favorite, too! I like the idea of hot cocoa and a throw! I am definitely going to do that! Thank you for the idea! : )

      Sweet dreams!

  5. Those booties look so cute and comfy. I am typing this sitting barefoot in my house, which is 102 years old and has tile and hardwood floors. And there is snow outside. 🙁

    I love lindt chocolates.

I usually end up giving away soap gift sets. I like the ones from Rocky Mountain Soap. They started out as a little shop in Banff.

    • Thank you Liana! Oh! I LOVE older homes! I did not know you lived in one! Lucky girl! You must get some cozy slippers!

Soap sets are a great idea. I always use Dove soap, but pretty soap is always such a nice luxury. Great idea!

      Have a fun Thursday!

  6. Super duper congrats to Jo, Sharon, and Lynn!
Those slippers look so comfy. I am going to check those out! Pretty colors too!
I tend to stick to wine as a generic gift but that is not always a good gift.

    • Thank you Cynthia! I want to get to a store and stock up on those slippers asgifts. My husband likes them, too. I think they are unisex.

Wine is always a good gift! Right now I have been buying the Charles Shaw wine in the box. It is so cheap and I like cheap! We always gift wine to my husband’s brother at Christmas from our local wineries. He loves wine!

      Have a sweet Thursday!

  7. What a lucky girl your daughter is! That’s an awesome gift!
My gal pals know to check their mail on or around St. Nikolaus day (Dec.6) for their annual treat from me. I send them each a small box filled with holiday nail polish, lipgloss, scented lotion, some sweets and a pocket calendar.
I’ve given monogrammed tote bags in the past as generic gifts when I’m at a loss.

    • Thank you Leanna! I will admit that I am more than slightly jealous of that calendar! It looks really cool. It is pretty big, too. I hope it ends up being worth it, but I imagine the twenty four days of joy that it will bring and imagine it will be so.

Oooooh! You are a good friend! I love that you do that. It is so sweet. I always have a Christmas movie night with my girlfriends. I have all ready purchased some of the goodies.

Have a marvelous rest of the week!

      Jenni

  8. Such fun gift ideas. I would love to get my boys the lego advent, but than I would need to get two or force them to share…and it just is so expensive that way. SO… they get the $2 cheap chocolate ones. 🙂 I am jealous of your daughter’s calendar. It looks awesome!
