Denim Over All

First, I apologize for the unexpected blogging break. I expect to be back here daily as long as September can behave herself. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I appreciate it. : )

I thought a year of overalls and I would be done with them. I have all ready worn my mustard overalls three times on this blog. And many more times in real life.

But then, these Mih overalls I had had my eye on went 75% off during a sale and I could not resist their denim appeal (I purchased mine at Anthropologie, but they are now sold out. They run very small. I sized up to a large. Another cute overall option can be found at Anthropologie here.).

I have a flat butt.

A big ol’ flat butt (which is thankfully not as tragic as the bug ol’ flat butt I had originally typed).

And that is okay with me, except I am not sure these overalls are the most forgiving and flattering from the side or behind.

Maybe a sparkly, colorful headband will detract from all of that (old from Anthropologie. Similar headband can be found here).

Isn’t that the rule?

Hide anything with a headband?

How about some ruffles?

Ruffles cover up a multitude of sins.

Although, having a big ol’ flat butt is, thankfully, not a sin.

Now, a bug ol’ flat butt might be very sinful.

Or gross.

Either way, I’ll happily take what I have.

I have the perfect solution. I will just greet everyone from the front.

Or like this.

I will not move my hands from my sides. Ever. I knew the solution would come to me.

Although now I feel itchy…

And I’ve lost the use of my arms.

But these overalls were worth it.

Now somebody call an exterminator.

Do you wear things even if they are not the most flattering from all sides? Did you buy any overalls this year? Do you ever make silly typos? I ever do.

  1. I missed you Jenni! I was worried something happened to you since you are the first blog I read every AM. I think you look really cute in your overalls. I used to wear pink ones when they were the big thing in the 80’s (yes I am old!). I loved them. My only regret is I never had a picture taken when I wore them! Have a wonderful day and I am so glad you are back.

    • Thank you so, so much Janet! I was having the hardest week. I was too sad to blog. I am feeling slightly better now. This month has been tough. Pink overalls sound amazing! That is sad that you do not have a picture. Or the actual overalls! I bet you could still wear them. Your comment made my day. Thank you so much!

      Have a sweet Sunday!

  2. Adorable!! The overalls, ruffles, and headband! There is something so fresh and clean and sweet about denim and white. It’s one of my favorite combos. And yes, I make typos all the time and it drives me crazy. I find myself typing so much all day that I have stopped proofreading and I am a messy fast typer. Oh and yes I have bought clothing that is not flattering from all sides. I figure I can’t see my butt so who cares! 🙂

    • Thank you Cynthia! I like your thinking. I often think that way, too. Who cares? I like to just pretend everything is okay back there. : )

      Have a lovely week!

  3. You may be the only women on the planet that can pull off denim overalls!! They looks so good on you and everything put together perfectly. As for typos, I am slightly dyslexic, so I am constantly typing things wrong…

    • Thank you Alicia! I appreciate that. I did not know you were slightly dyslexic. You are one of the best writers I have seen with a blog. I am envious of your word flow. I mistype stuff all of the time. Sometimes it can be frustrating.

      Have a sweet week!

  4. I just gave the same advice about using a headband to detract from what you don’t want people to see! A friend of mine is wearing a bridesmaid dress, at the request of the bride, that is not a flattering fit whatsoever. She asked what I’d do to distract from the fit, and I recommended a glitzy statement necklace or headband to draw the eye up and away from what she’s trying to mask. I don’t think she has the same sense of humor about the whole situation as you do. Nor would I in her situation, I suppose. Ah, the joys of being a bridemaid!

I too have a flat butt, which is such a joy to dress in jeans. Perhaps this gives a little insight into our love of dresses? Fit-and-flare dresses poof out and create the exact silhouette that I desire. Jeans just show things as they are, flat butt and all. But I have been seeing more and more ads for underwear with butt padding in them! lol I’d feel ridiculous in them but maybe way more comfortable sitting for long periods of time. Something to consider! (Or not.)

Hope you have a lovely week!

    • Thanks Liz! I am in the middle of reading a David Sedaris book and one of his short stories involves a padded butt. Your reference made me laugh remembering it. That sucks for your friend. I hate when that happens. I am strongly a believer in letting the bridesmaids pick their dresses. They are the ones who have to pay for them and wear them. I hope it works out for her. That would be frustrating.

      Have a joyful week!

  5. Holy crap girl, you look ADORABLE! Love those overalls on you, and your cute tiny butt. (I kind of wish I had your problem, haha – the grass is always greener!) Victor has a flat one too, and sometimes I tell him, “Get yer flat ass over here!” 😉 Anyways you can TOTES wear overalls, especially these ones.

Peplums and mini-skirts don’t flatter me, but I do have one good peplum and one good mini-skirt – it’s all in the way things are cut, I’ve found. 😉 And my best ever typo was naming my brain Brian. (He says hi.)

    • Thank you Gwen! I do not have a tiny butt. That is my problem. It is big but flat. Aw, well. What can one do that doesn’t involve working out? ; )

Kimonos do not flatter me. And I just cannot do them. I love your peplum. I remember Brain’s typo. It was great!

      Have a lovely day!

  6. I love this boho look. You should be in the catalog for Free People. I don’t know how they’d feel about you never moving your arms though.

I stayed away from overalls. I didn’t feel I could do them anymore. I kind of regret that a little bit now.

I often take photos from behind now. Not because I’m obsessed with my butt…rather because once I saw a photo of myself wearing something I thought looked perfectly wonderful from the front only to see the back and be horrified. Like where did all that baggage come from??? And why is it hanging so low???

Typos are my enemy. Especially when I start to get tired. I can’t see them no matter how many times I proof read.

    bisous

    • Thank you Suzanne! I do the same thing. I want to see what it looks like and then I immediately delete it and pretend it never happened. Denial is my queen.

      Have a super weekend!
