There And Back Again

I have this Anthropologie Ponte Bell Skirt in black and it is one of my favorites. When more colors came out, I added them all to my wishlist with the hope of one day scoring one at a huge discount. In July, I finally was able to acquire one more in the color I had been wanting the most, this really pretty green. I got it for 75% off. The green reminds me of hobbits.

Well, pretty much everything reminds me of hobbits.

It is a bit of a problem.

When I take this skirt off, it stands up all by itself.

It is as though Gandalf granted it some mysterious skirt power.

I paired my skirt with a simple dress from Target. This skirt is short, so I feel better knowing that I have extra coverage underneath it. I could have used a striped shirt, goodness knows I have enough, but I was happy with this solution. I like that the back of the dress has a zipper like the back of this skirt.

We found the neatest gully in the middle of the desert. I want to walk down there one day for pictures. There could be hobbits! But my husband says that I will not be able to get back up.

I think he is forgetting that I am wearing a magic skirt.

The earrings are from Nordstrom Rack. The bracelet is Free People’s Hammered Stacked Cuff. The shoes are Anthropologie’s Almanac Sandals. The invisible necklace made from the remnants of second breakfast is courtesy of my imagination.

Do you have anything in your closet that reminds you of your favorite movie? Have you scored any popbacks lately? I have a post coming up soon with some of my recent best finds.

*Today is typically reserved for the feature “It’s The Little Things.” Unfortunately, life got in the way of me finishing pictures for it today. It has been hard adjusting to this back to school thing. The feature should resume next week. Until then, I need to rid myself of this outfit photo backlog.

These photos were edited using the Afterlife App’s forrest filter at 55%.

P.S. * I shared this on The Pleated Poppy!

    • Thank you so much Barbara. I do it often if I feel uncomfortable about the length of a skirt. I wish I could take credit for the dress idea, but I am sure I saw someone else do it before me. I cannot remember who, though.

I did have a happy Saturday, thank you! But this weekend is going by too fast.

      Have a fun evening!

  1. I was going to comment on this skirt yesterday – I just love it’s structured shape! And the green color. I recently got a necklace and scarf on sale with the extra 20% off. I am really surprised at all of the promos they have had lately!

    • Thank you Heather. The promos have been amazing. I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I am burnt out shopping. I need to wear the new pretties and find some stuff in my closet for awhile. I cannot wait to see your new accessories!

Have a beautiful rest of this long weekend!

  2. Such a fun blog post! And I love that green skirt! I definitely have a couple of pieces in my closet that have a bit of a special meaning to them. One of my skirts reminds me of West Side Story, the way it swishes back and forth when I walk or spin around in it. So fun! 🙂

    • I love the West Side Story image. Really fun. Thanks for the compliments too. : ). I appreciate it.

      Have a terrific week!

  3. I remember screaming when that skirt first popped up on Anthro’s website. I love that color. It’s so exciting that you got it for so cheap. Yay! I love that you are showcasing so much green lately. Green is my favorite color!

    • Thank you Cynthia! : ). Green is my husband’s and my son’s favorite color, too. I have seen that skirt pop up recently, they might still have one in store. It would look great on you!

      Sweet dreams!

    • Thank you Rebecca! I like green, too, but blue has my whole heart, : ). Today I stayed half the day in pajamas and half of the day in my swimsuit. I hope you are having a relaxing long weekend, too.

      Have a lovely week!

  4. I laughed at the second breakfast comment. I like to eat a cookie for second breakfast myself. I have a scarf that reminds me of Charlotte’s caftan and a necklace with a star and moon that remind me of Carrie’s necklace in Sex and The City II. It’s fun to have things that make you remember favorite movies.

    • Thank you! I had wondered if anyone would read that far to get to that sentence! : ). I love that necklace in that movie! In fact, I love both of those movies. I hope they make another one. I just watched the first one again earlier this week.

      Have a great week!

  5. I tried on this skirt and loved it, though it was a bit too snug. It is quite lovely on you. I love the bright green again your hair and complexion. I know what you mean though about it standing up on its own! The fabric and weave is really quite impressive, and I like the poofy bubble shape it gives over the hips.

I laughed when you commented about everything reminding you of hobbits. Kyle and I quote HP and LOTR daily. It’s a problem. And I was drawn to this post in particular because of its title. I thought: “Ooooh! Hobbit themed! Gotta read this one!” So I am right there with you on the nerd train.

This kelly green is going to be so great as you transition into fall, and I feel like it could even make for a Christmas-ey ensemble. When fall hits, all I want to do is snuggle down on the couch and watch HP and LOTR. It has already begun!

    • Thanks Liz! I am obsessed with both classics. Harry Potter is and always will be my favorite, but LOTR has my heart, too. Tomorrow my husband and I are going to catch Ghostbusters in the theater. Did you know it was rereleased for a week? We almost missed it!

I did not think about it for Christmas. Great idea! I will definitely do that.

I have a fabulous Harry Potter tank from Etsy. I cannot wait to share it! : )

      Have a gorgeous week!

  6. Since I already have the striped version of this skirt, I dismissed the solid versions but after seeing this on you I may be regretting that a little. So cute with the stripes!

    • Thank you Rachel! The skirt is from Girls from Savoy and it looks like they have different colors of it for sale on their website. I love the pink one they are selling. I love this skirt on you in the stripes. You look great in it!

Have a great first weekend of September!
