Comic-Con!

20140723-123808.jpg

It is that time of year again. The time when I painstakingly go through my closet in search of the perfect outfit to wear each day to Comic Con in an attempt to appear quite cool and collected with just a bit of nerd shining through. Not in full costume, but rather a theme, if you will. Mustn’t alert them to my full nerd power at once. I would hate to blind someone.

This year we were only able to get tickets for Thursday and Sunday. We are kind of bummed but we are also grateful because a lot of people did not manage to get tickets at all.

However, that is not to say this is not going to be overwhelming.

It is.

Nor is that to say that it will not be hot or smelly.

Because it is and it will be.

And I will probably have mini-meltdowns periodically throughout the day when there is nowhere to sit and I have to ask the forty year old man to move his cape so I can squat next to him on the floor.

There will be that.

But last year I got to meet George R.R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, and Sean Astin (the links go to my blog posts about the encounters).

I was looking forward to stalking Patrick Rothfuss again this year, but, alas he is bringing his wee ones (I am all ready reverting to Tolkien) and has asked not to be bothered when he is with his family (which is completely understandable). Sigh. Now what? What shall I do?

Is there anything you want to see? A picture you want me to take? I will gladly oblige, if I can, between my visits with not-Superman-at-all. I will have a recap post hopefully up early next week with all the nitty gritty details.

Until then wish me luck.

And shield your eyes!

  1. I am intrigued with your outfit process! I can’t wait to see what you wear. Comic Con always reminds me of the Big Band Theory episode when they are going to a smaller comic con as Star Trek and get their car stolen…totally hilarious!
Hope you have a great time!

    • Thank you Alicia. Can you believe we don’t watch “The Big Bang Theory”? We just never have gotten into it. But that sounds hilarious! We have only watched it twice many years ago so maybe we need to give it another chance. We had a good time. We stayed longer than we ever have before and are still recuperating. : )

      Have a super weekend!

  2. Go see the folks from Starz new Outlander show! (Starts next month & is based on the books by Diana Gabaldon) 🙂

    • Aw, man. We had kids with us so we never get to see any shows or go to any panels. I cannot wait for the day we get to do that! : ). That sounded fantastic.

      Have a gorgeous weekend!

    • Thank you Barbara! I had my eyes peeled for anyone. I was even checking under masks to see if I could spot anyone, but alas, nobody. I am still going on Sunday, but usually noone goes on Sundays so I doubt I will see anyone. : (. All of the stars go on the weekend.

      Have an excellent weekend!

    • Thank you Jac. The kids dressed up. We did not. I only wore some fun jewelry. I do not know what I am going to wear on Sunday. It gets so hot so it is hard to pick the appropriate attire. I hate sweating! : )

      Have a happy weekend!

    • Thank you Stacey. I wish I would have seen this in time. I did not drink enough. We drove through In-N-Out on the way home and we all ordered the largest lemonades that they sell. I have never tasted anything so good! : )

I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

    • Thank you Melodee. I do feel lucky. I took some pictures of some cool Walking Dead stuff and I hope to get more on Sunday. I thought I wore sensible shoes but I now have blisters. : (

      Sweet dreams!

    • Thanks Marie! It was a great night. That was the last time I wore that dress. Come to think of it, it might be time to wear it again. : )
