Gypsy Spirit

Me: “Hey, I just heard that there is a whole… Hmmmm. What is the word that I want… Not congregation… But?

Him: “Cult?”

Me: “No. Not cult! A group of people. Actually they are all psychics and they all live together on this piece of land not far from here.”

Him: “Gypsies?”

Me: “No! They live in homes but they are all psychic and they live in the same community.”

Him: “So a community of tract homes like ours full of psychics?”

Me: “No. No…. Well, Okay. I think they live in trailers on the same land together. Hmmm… maybe they are gypsies. I don’t know. I just heard about them.”

Him: “Where’d you hear about them?”

Me: “My hair dresser. She went and said it was really cool. It is a group of psychics and they all live together and help each other develop their powers and I want…”

Him interrupting me, in the most natural and nonchalant way: “To join them?”

Me: “What?! No! I just want to go get my palm read.”

Me: “Wait! You thought I wanted to join them?! You thought I was going to leave and go live with gypsies?!”

Him: “Yes. I thought that was what you were leading up to.”

Me: “And you were okay with that?! Why were you so calm about that?”

Him: “Because I knew you’d come back.”

Have you ever been to a gypsy camp? Has your husband ever been okay with you running away and joining them?

*I am wearing an Anthropologie skirt from last year and a vintage vest. I could not find anything similar, but if I could afford it, I would buy this gypsy skirt and never look back. ; ) If only I could foresee if that happens…

    • Thanks Suzanne. I am not much of an outdoorsy girl, so I am not sure how long I would last. And I kind of hate traveling. I always think I am going to like it, but then I miss home. But I can pretend. : )

I hope you are having a great week!

    • Oh my gosh! Even having written that post out, I forgot that there was a word I had been looking for. And, yes, commune was it!!! Thank you so much!

      Have a wonderful week!

  1. Hilarious! I don’t think I could get my palm read. It might freak me out. And I’d probably obsess about it. But if you could have fun with it minus the potential anxiety attack, go for it! And while you’re at it, just run away with them. Because your husband is obviously good with it. You’ll come back. Eventually. Too funny.

This would be the perfect “runaway” outfit. That fringe vest is so fun, and I like the rainbow of colors because they’re more muted and earthy. Perfect for travelling across the west and those cool desert nights. Your wardrobe is ready for joining the gypsies!

    • Thank you Liz! I had the outfit and the story as two separate posts when I realized they would work together. I love when that happens. I still can’t believe he thought I would run away with gypsies. I have had my palm read many times. J have had some bad things said, too. So, it is not for the faint of heart. And I do obsess about it, which is why I am always looking for a second opinion! It is a vicious little cycle.

Thankfully, I am not worrying about it now. I am more worried about our air conditioning in our hotel room. It has turned off four times! Ack!

      Have a gorgeous week! : )

  2. Awww… your hubby is such a sweetie!
Why is that skirt $358? For that price there should be gold thread holding it all together!
    You look so pretty!
    xo

    • Thank you. He is sweet. But perhaps he wanted a break, too. ; ). That skirt keeps being sold, so somebody is very lucky! It is so gorgeous, but it would have to be majorly discounted for this gypsy girl to get it.

Thanks for the compliment, too. I do not know why I am so serious in these pics. I think I must have been contemplating running away. ; )

      Have a cheerful week!

  3. I love your outfit, especially the vest. I thought it was vintage before I read the description.

My mom regularly visits a psychic. I’ve seen her once or twice but remain unconvinced. But it would be fun to get my palm read!

    • Thanks Liana! I do believe in some psychics. There was once this show on t.v. It was over ten years ago, I think. It was called “The Great American Psychic.” They had a group of psychics from all over the country compete. It was cool to see the competitions and which psychics could actually pass certain tests. I wish they would bring it back!

Thank you again! Have a beautiful Sunday!

  4. This post, the conversation, just cracked me up!! My husband would moan if I wanted to run away, but he would also know that I’d be back. Your husband’s approach is MUCH better. I’ve always had an affinity for the gypsy style. I loved Stevie Nicks when I was younger, not for song lyrics at the time, but because of the way she looked. Maybe because inside I am wild, and free. My friend Kate, said that I’m a bohemian in the burbs dressed in classic clothing (my favorite designer is Ralph Lauren), and she is a traditional, safe person dressed in sexy, bohemian clothing. I think she may be right.

    • Thanks Jess! I think if I were to run away, I would hope to go somewhere a little mor awesome! On a beach. With rum drinks. I love how Kate described you. That is so true. You are a bohemian spirit in classic clothing. That is so accurate! An why I love you! : )

      Have a wonderful evening!

  5. I can’t say it’s ever come up that I’ve wanted to run away and join a gypsy camp…my husband (technically we’re not married, but we’ve been together 15 years so he’s as good as, we just can’t be bothered to get married) would be really concerned if I ever did and he’d probably commit me! The bright colours are tempting though… 🙂

    • Thanks Rachel. Honestly, if it hadn’t been for an easy Vegas wedding, we probably would have never done it. I am not a big wedding girl. I don’t get spending that kind of money on one day. We have been together fifteen years, too. I bet you and I started dating our guys at roughly the same age. Crazy how much we have in common! : )

      Have a happy week!

  6. That’s so funny! Have you ever watched the big fat gypsy wedding shows? They are crazy! I don’t watch them anymore bc I decided I didn’t have enough time, but wow!

    • I have watched them, but only the ones taking place in other countries. The show for the U.S. is just sad. I cannot watch that one. But those dresses… Oh my gosh! They are mesmerizing!

      Have a super Sunday!
