The Winner Of The Giveaway, Cravings and Blog News

First, I want to apologize that my website has been wonky the past few days. It is the server and I am being told they are working on it. Fingers crossed it gets resolved soon! Again, I apologize!

The winner of the moon necklace is Jessica Wilhite! Congratulations! I really, really like this necklace. I hope you do, too! Enjoy! I am so happy for you!

My husband told me I should change the format of my giveaways to those easy ones. Those number-generated-generic-sterile ones. But I refused. I said, “But then I won’t get to read their cool stories!” Insert big pouty lower lip here. And I am so glad I didn’t, because you guys shared the coolest things this month! I love reading about your lives. Your beliefs. Your travels. Your loves. It honestly enriches my life so much, and I cannot thank you enough for that. But I will try.

Thank you! : )

There are a few new things going on on this blog that I wanted to share. I think there is always room for growth. And I always want to be my own blog. And not like others. So, I recently added in Past Cards and will be doing those once a month. The above picture is a peek at the next post coming up soon. : )

I am also going to be introducing my sister onto this blog. She lives seven miles from me and I love her to pieces. Plus, I am tired of just pictures of only me. Since I will not post pictures of my children and my husband does not want to be on the blog (which is smart of him because I have an underwear post of his coming up soon. I cannot imagine why he doesn’t want his picture on this blog). I figured I would pimp out put up my nearest relative. I think this will be a fun feature we can do together once in awhile. She has a completely different style than I do, so it will be nice to share a different look on this blog. However. And this is a biggie. She is younger, taller and prettier, so I am not going to allow her on here too often, though. Just kidding!…But seriously.

In other revelations:

I am shy.

Painfully shy if I don’t know you.

Shocking, right?

And it takes me awhile to come out of my shell. I feel like this last year, I have slowly been sharing myself. But I finally feel safe enough to share all of me. Or as much as the majority of the public can handle. I have made so many friends here, I feeI like I can just be myself. If you look at my old outfit photos, I look terrified. I was even scared to smile. But all of that is changing.

Kind of.

I am sick of pictures of me always in the same spot in my outfit posts. I went through my blog looking for ways to improve it and that is one of them. And I was ashamed of how bad some of my pictures are. Bad me! So from now on, I vow to try to take better pictures. This truly, truly hurts my lazy heart. But I am excited about a change. I still might resort to the fireplace if we are really in a hurry. However, the majority of the pictures will be different this month. Please let me know which ones work and which ones don’t (nicely. Please don’t make me cry. I hate spending money on tissues). This is going to be a series of experimenting. I pretty much have no idea how to pose.

But you can’t fly if you never jump. Off an imaginary building. Built from words. And pictures. Into a cloud. That I still do not understand.

All right. I think that is it on updates. Let’s move on to the stuff I am craving this month. Oh. The cravings. They hurt:

20140416-195419.jpg

I want/need/can’t-afford-at-full-price the Vine Beaded Maxi Dress by one of my favorite designers, Vaneet Bahl. It is from Anthropologie. I am just hoping to get it on sale. So, save one in a small for me, would ya?

20140416-195733.jpg

These whale-tale measuring cups.

Oh.

Just oh.

20140416-195659.jpg

Um. Um. Um. Do I dare share these Concha Garden Planters? These will be at the top of my budget list for May. Again try to save me one… Or two… Or ten.

20140416-195542.jpg

Seriously, how close to Otomi could these be?

Must.

Have.

Them.

All.

Nowhere. To. Put. Them.

Sigh.

20140416-195623.jpg

Why? Why is the Plevna Top only available in petite sizing? My shirt is wet from the tears in my heart. And also, does anyone know what pants the model is wearing? They look great!

Needlework it Out Dress from ModCloth

And last, but not least, the Needlework it Out Dress from Modcloth. This dress is so awesome. The price is perfect. The color is perfect. Again, my budget is gone for thirteen more days. And the dress sold out. However, I have clicked their “I NEED IT” button in my size. They will notify me if it gets reordered. I have never seen them not reorder if an item is popular and they can.

What are your cravings this month? Do you think I should do a monthly video on this blog ? Yes. I am also thinking of doing a video blog monthly or posting a video here or some sort of recording device/contraption… Whatever those youngsters are calling the talking pictures these days. Whatcha think?

    • Thank you Brynne! I do not know if my pocketbook could handle them all, but if they all went a huge discounted price, I would not complain. ; )

I have been playing with pictures all week. The first new attempt at outfit photos goes up Sunday!

      Have a delicious weekend!

  1. Oh my gosh that last dress is ADORABLE!!! Perfect for you. And me. ; )

Lucky you having your sister only 7 miles away. Mine is about 3,500 km away. Needless to say, we can’t just “pop over” for tea.

Such as shame as my sister is also taller and her kids are so adorable and TALL. My niece is now 11 and she is taller than me!!! WHAT? She should be a model but like you, she is painfully shy.

I’m looking forward to your new photos. I’ve gotten used to that fireplace.

    bisous

    • Thank you Suzanne! Oh my goodness, I cannot imagine having my sister that far away. I think I am not being grateful for what I have, because I do not see her as often as I would like. Thanks for reminding me I need to call her to see if I can babysit my nephew Saturday so they can go out! I am such a flake! : )

The first “new” (or me trying to do something new) outfit post goes up on Sunday. I hope it is okay. It involves food. I have since learned this is not a good idea. I eat all of the food.

      Have a beautiful weekend!

  2. I LOVE old post cards! My grandma has boxes of them at her house that HER mother collected — and they’re all ones that were written/received by relatives! I love reading them and looking at the pictures. I have a few from her collection that I’ve shared on my blog over the years. I can’t wait to see the ones you’ve collected!

Also, I do giveaways the old-fashioned way, too. I draw names from a hat usually… πŸ™‚

Also also, I’m excited to “meet” your sister and I happen to like your photos πŸ™‚

    • Awww. Thank you Sarah! I am ashamed to say I actually, kind of, make fun of the old postcards (just the funny stories that they could have meant). I only buy the ones that are scandalous or make me laugh.

      I have a problem. ; )

Thank you for the comment on the outfit pictures! I will definitely still do those when in a hurry. They are so easy. But I have learned recently that being outside makes for better pictures! Who knew?!

Have an easy and restful weekend!

  3. Your craving are so fun! I am craving the pamona heels in the nude and leopard print something fierce. They may be a full price splurge for me!
Thanks for the fun giveaway. We saw Gravity this weekend and had me thinking about the beauty and splendor of space…and reaffirmed why I will look from below πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you Alicia! Aren’t cravings the best and the worst?! I hope you love those items. I bet they would work well for work, too.

I cannot watch “Gravity”! Is it weird that that is my worst nightmare (besides the obvious something happening to my family… And zombies) and I cannot imagine a scenario where that could actually occur to me? My kids saw it with their grandparents. Neither one of them could handle it. So, I know I could not either!

I hope your weekend is magical!

      Jenni

  4. Yay! I can’t wait for your sister to join you on your blog! How wonderful! sisters are the best!
Gasp – are those bunnies on those planters?!!! Bunnies?!! Loooooove!
That green dress would look fabulous on you. That color green is so pretty! Hopefully it will come back in stock.

    • Thank you Cynthia!

Yes! Those are bunnies on the planters! Oh my gosh! I love them so much. Refraining is so hard! : (. I think I will try to convince my sister to do a photo thingy (I cannot call it a shoot) with me this weekend.

That green dress is so good! And at less than $70, I hope they restock it!!!

      Have an excellent weekend!

      Jenni

  5. love that you call them cravings…haha! I am certain you will find a few of them on sale soon! you’re that best at that! how fun to have your sis joining you!!! love it!

    • Thank you Melodee! Probably in September is when the clothing items will be a popback! I am hoping to get the planters at the beginning of May! : ). I want the blue planter as something to sit on the toilet. It will be great in the bathroom with succulents! Ot just extra rolls of toilet paper after I kill the succulents! ; )

      Have a terrific weekend!

  6. Jenni,
First, thanks so much for all your comments! So glad to have you as a new friend! Thanks for the comments on the ballet post, you are just too sweet! Of course as women we unfortunately are so hard on ourselves (we are usually our own worst critics!) & how our bodies are & how we look. Not that we need validation, but it’s nice to be told we are beautiful, so really thank you so much for that! I think you always look beautiful too! Don’t worry about always posing in same place! It will be fun to see what more you have planned for your blog. I agree, its yours & for you, so do what makes you happy! I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling more comfortable & coming out of your shell, can’t wait to read more!

You are so lucky to have a sister, & especially one so close. I’m an only child. I was very lonely a lot growing up. I even think now, as an adult, I miss not having a sibling just as much. Is that strange? I just see friends or my sis-in-laws that do girl things with their sisters & it makes me miss having one, or a sibling. It’s just the way it is though.

Thanks for the house comment too. I’ve looked through many of your old posts & you have a lovely home too! I am so, so, ΓΌber jealous of all your bookshelves & the cutouts you made into book nooks. I LOVE books! I got rid of so many bc of lack of space & lack of bookshelves & that’s sad, but I guess making room for my children took priority, LOL! :).

Have a fantastic weekend. I hope you spend lots of time with your family, & if you celebrate Easter, enjoy that with your fam too!
    -rebecca

    • Thanks Rebecca! My sister is great. We did not get along growing up but we get along wonderfully now. She married an only child and they decided to have one child. I think it also is a great experience for the child in that way, too. The child gets plenty of attention and I feel learns how to speak to adults in a fabulous way. I am sure it was the same for you.

Thanks for your compliments on our house! Oh my gosh! Getting rid of books I love would be awful! I love them so much! Thankfully, we found unused space to store more of them. We still make a large donation ever two years to our local library. I think it is time to do it again!

You have a great Easter, too! Oh my gosh! I have not even bought plastic eggs, or any baskets, or much of anything! I am so behind! : (

      Have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

      Jenni

  7. I enjoy your blog just as it is. You have been doing a fantastic job. I look forward to reading it everyday. I can’t wait to see what you think of next.
P.S. I think one of the little planters would be pretty in your home as a flower vase.

    • Thank you! You are so sweet! I enjoy writing the blog. And definitely do not anticipate any changes (except never doing so many review posts at once, again!). I just wish my pictures were a little better. I am actually really, really happy with the three outfit pictures I have taken so far! They will all run in the next ten days! I think my husband did a good job of capturing me.

I love your idea for the planters as a vase! I am going to do that with at least one, when I can afford to buy them! Thank you for the great idea! I honestly never would have thought of it!

I hope your weekend is fun with your bully! Ollie has started to break out in sores again from the one side he lays on the grass on. His skin is so temperamental. I feel so badly for him!

      Jenni

  8. I love the Anthro dress! Their prices make me cry too, which is why I don’t own any of their stuff. I pass by little measuring cups like that whenever I go in there and they are adorable, but I just can’t cough up the dough :(. I hope you wind up with some of the stuff on your wish list! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Merrie! Oh my gosh! You definitely need to make yourself a wishlist on the Anthropologie website. Things will sell out, but then if they ever popback, you can get them at an amazing sale price! It takes a lot of patience, but I get most of my clothes this way!

      Have a beautiful weekend!

      Jenni

  9. I am “over-the-moon” thrilled to have won Gnomelover’s 13th Blog Give Away!-!-! Although I am 1st generation American (family is from Spain & Guatemala), the fact that the artist of this beautiful necklace, Nuria, is from Spain is very special to me. The moon is very significant to Spaniards (and Italians), and women in general. I went to her website, and loved Lunahoo’s custom pieces. Thank you Jenni for introducing us to Nuria, and thank you for the give-away gift! I love what all your subscriber’s wrote. All beautiful. XO

    • Hello, beautiful girl. Congratulations! I am thrilled for you. I love that you know all of that history. I know that the necklace has a special meaning to you and I love that so much! And thank you for imparting your wisdom, because I had no idea that Spain had so many beautiful symbols. My own necklace means more to me now, too. And also to my daughter. Thank you!

      Have a Happy Easter! : )
