It’s The Little Things: Phone Camera Lenses

I never knew these existed. Did you? But I read about them last month on A Beautiful Mess here. They compared different photo lenses for phone cameras. Some of the ones they showed were expensive. I knew as much as they intrigued me, I probably would not be indulging in them. But they also showed a pack of lenses for sale at Amazon for less than $10. They are the VicTsing 3in1 Lens. I thought it would be fun to play around with them.

Spoiler: I was right! So, so right!

Duh! ; )

This is what the three lenses (that really does not sound like a word. Does it?) look like. There is the fish-eye lens and the macro/wide view lens. The macro and wide view lens screw together. To use the wide view, you keep them together. To use the macro (super close-up), you unscrew them and attach only that one.

This is what a lens looks like attached to my phone (I have an iPhone 5).

This one is my favorite. I think. I really love them all. It is the fisheye lens. It makes everything look distorted. I think it is so cool! This is sweet Ollie using the fisheye lens.

This is a selfie. I am on my knees (in case you were wonderin’). Probably beggin’ for clothes.

Or a cookie.

This is the same spot with the wide angle lens. You can definitely tell the difference.

And here is the macro lens. A flower petal in our house.

Because why wouldn’t I?

Here it is without the macro lens attached. It is a definite difference.

It’s the little things: getting more uses from something you all ready own!

I hardly ever use my camera on my phone. But now with these easy lenses, I can take fun pictures anywhere I am. These lenses will fit easily into any purse I own. I am thrilled with this cheap little indulgence. I am going to buy a pack for my daughter, too. They are a cool little gift.

Have you heard of these? Have you tried them? Do you use your phone’s camera?

* I was not paid for this post. I purchased the lenses myself, because I really wanted to try them. However, the link provided is an affiliate link. Purchasing through that link will provide a small commission for this blog. I will never write a post about something I have not purchased myself or that I would purchase for myself. As in anything I review, your experience may vary. I am not a professional photographer and I tried to use the lenses to the best of my ability. And my ability… it ain’t much. ; ).

  1. I hadn’t heard of these before. That is wild how they attach to your phone.

I loved it…begging for clothes or cookies! LOL ; )

    • Thank you Suzanne! I had not either and I was so excited about these. I guess I truly am a gadget girl! : )

Have a wonderful weekend! Knock on wood I get to sleep in!!!

  2. I use my phone camera when I’m doing store reviews, but otherwise I use a Canon SLR with a tripod. Fortunately, not long after I met my husband, I seduced him away from Nikon and he has a Canon SLR too. Makes it easier for me to justify nice lenses (I bought him a fisheye lens for Christmas last year). Those iPhone lenses look like fun! And the price can’t be beat!

    • I rarely use my iPhone either, but that is because I am terrible at charging it. We have had a Nikon for four years. We thought about a Canon, but decided on Nikon because they had the best deal at the time. I have been happy with it. However, in the next two years I am sure we will need to get it repaired (the shutter is slow and sticks) or upgrade. I would love to know what you love about your Canon sometime. I am not technology savvy, so I need all of the help I can get! : )

      Have a lovely weekend!

    • Thank you! Oh! I have gotten the best up close facial pics this week! I cannot wait to share them! I have realized I can take better pictures of him when I set the camera flat on the ground next to his face. My hands are too unstable otherwise.

Have a super Saturday! And weekend!

  3. No! I had not heard of these! I did not know it was even possible. This is amazing! I have been using the HelloCamera App to artify my pics – I have an upcoming blogpost about it – but had no idea you could buy lenses for the iphone. Thank you so much for this info. Btw, I got the Waterlogue app after reading your post and I love that one too. Ah – the possibilities. I am overwhelmed with all of the stuff going on. And I still need to learn how to edit video on imovie.

    • Thank you Cynthia! I just used Waterlogue and the Beautiful Mess App for my picture going up tomorrow. I love learning new things. As long as they are EASY. I cannot handle complicated. I am thinking of adding a video to my blog once a month and so I need to learn that video thing with you! Why does it have to be so hard?

      Have an easy restful weekend!

  4. I have the Ollioclip. It’s really fun to use. My favorite is the Macro lens. Using it along with a fun photo app like Afterlight makes for some pretty cool photos.

    • I had to look up Ollioclip, because I had not heard of it before! You are so tech savvy! It looks so cool! Maybe one day I will try that one, too! I really like Afterlight. I often forget about it. Thank you for the reminder! And thank you for commenting! I hope you have been well! I keep meaning to comment on your blog after I read your beautiful entries in my email.. And I have been bad! I absolutely love your art journal you are doing! I am so jealous! And, your husband can draw, too!!

      Have a terrific weekend!

  5. GREAT information! I need good photos for my business, and it’s cumbersome to lug around my big, heavy Nikon slr. My new Samsung phone takes great pics, but I need wide angle “before & after” shots. I think you just saved me a lot of anguish. THANK YOU!-!-!

    • You should borrow mine before you buy them to make sure you like them! I have extra sticky things for your camera! Let me know if that is something you would want to do! I am totally cool with lending them out! : ).

I was just thinking about you today. So glad to be your friend!

      Jenni

    • Thank you Deniz! They are so much fun! I want to get a cute little pouch to carry them in my purse. I love how easy they were to use!

      Have a marvelous week!

  6. Wow, I didn’t know those existed either! The camera is why I was why I got my iPhone! Bc I’m a picture taker & now I’ve always got a small, really good camera with me! I had an old, non smart phone befor w/ a crap camera. John & the kiddos bought me the iPhone 4S for Mother’s Day in 2012 bc it had just come out & was at the time the best camera on a cell phone! I still think it’s awesome & takes amazing pics! I’m so glad to have it!!! I take so many pics with it all the time & also make a point to when we’re on a trip, so I have them still on my phone to look at & dream about & show off! 🙂

Love your backyard & your pool! It’s so pretty, I love the tile!
    Rebecca

    • Thank you Rebecca! I just got an iPhone last year and it was amazing the difference. It had been five years since I had upgraded and I loved having a camera. I love that there are devices out there for it, too.

Thank you for the compliment, too. My husband picked out that tile. I love it! : )

      Have a great week!
