Thank you all who entered! This giveaway is now closed!

Oh, you guys, I am now eleven months into writing this blog. I was unsure about blogging and so far I love it. It is the creative outlet I did not even know my soul needed. Thank you for hanging in here with me. I know I can be all over the place. I guess I am just a random person. I appreciate all of your support. I truly could not and would not continue this blog if it was not for you.

I am so excited about this month’s giveaway. I had received one of these Anthropologie Handira Blankets as one of my Christmas presents. It is beautiful. The blanket retailed for $188, but two weeks ago I got another one as a popback for $24.95. So, now I have two. And I was beyond thrilled, content and happy.

Two days later, another one popped back. I could not believe it. I definitely did not need three, so I bought it as my giveaway for this month. I cannot wait for one of you to win this! I think it is a work of art. And you know my motto: stripes go with everything!

To enter for a chance to win the Anthropologie Handira Blanket, simply leave a comment on this post telling me what is the place of serenity that you see when you close your eyes. I think giving away a blanket brings thoughts of contentment and warmth.

I have many places that flutter and flitter through my mind. Images that slide around until I finally settle on one. Today mine would be leisurely laying in bed with my husband in our hotel room last year. Our room overlooked Pike Place Market in Seattle. I could see the ocean and hear the bustle of the morning crowds below. We had the windows open and the fog seemed to linger right outside of the window as if waiting for an invitation before entering. All of the delicious food from the market blended together to just barely waft itself into the fog. Seattle will always smell of the sea, coffee, curry, garlic, and yeast in my memories. There is no meal that could hold it, but it would be delicious all the same. The bed was perfectly crisp and warm. The air carried the coolness of morning left behind by the moon. I could have stayed right there in that spot forever.

I cannot wait to read about your calm place that only you can see when you close your eyes.

  1. I’ve never been to Seattle but it sounds so lovely!! My spot is somewhere in the mountains. Wyoming or Colorado or Idaho. Sitting by a lake reflecting the mountain behind it. Blue sky & pine needles. All you can hear are the birds & water! Great giveaway!! Thanks!

  2. I am spending Valentine’s Day weekend with my husband and four kids in a boxcar that has been converted to a cabin. We go there once a year and it is so cozy and fun to watch the kids play in the nearby woods and fields. That would be my spot right now (though some people probably think that sounds extraordinarily unrelaxing . . . ;))

  3. I like to think about the heat of the sun and the sea breeze on my honeymoon in Mexico. It was the first time I learned to just relax at a pool and do nothing but just absorb everything and breathe it all in. I was beyond exhausted from our wedding and just sitting and being and having no agenda besides deciding if we should go to the pool or the beach first was just perfect. Plus, I was on my honeymoon, so obviously, it was wonderful memory.
(It is nice to imagine th heat of the sun on my face today. It feels like negative 1 out, so anything warms sounds heavenly!)

  4. I see myself sitting on the porch of my parents’ farmhouse, sipping an iced tea on the muggiest of all summer days while watching a storm in the distance.

  5. I’d have to say a relaxing day at the spa. I love the scent of the candles, the dim lighting and the infused water. It’s such a relaxing environment and after a massage there is nothing better then the way I feel when I leave.

  6. My comfort place is when I close my eyes and daydream that I’m soaking up the sun on the beach with not a care in the world! Love your blog, and the blanket is oh so cute!

  7. New to your blog and just loving checking in every day! Thanks for sharing!
My comfort place would be baking in the kitchen. I find it so relaxing – and of course yummy!

  8. Congrats on the 11 monthiversary! I already follow on blogger.

My comfort place would be sitting next to the fireplace in our house in the mountains. Snow falling outside. Sipping tea, reading a good book and eating a slice of pie.

    • I am not sure why this one popped into my mind first but it is the running trail that follows the Spokane River in Spokane Washington. I took many beautiful runs along that trail taking in the blue river, tall evergreens and gorgeous, mountainous landscape. Sometimes I was lucky enough to run when the rowing teams were out (which I later became a member of). I miss having that available to me right out my door.

  9. Jenni, I loved reading about your content place as Seattle is my hometown. My special place is at the top of a local hike, surrounded by the trees, lake, and mountains. Nature at its best!

  10. Hey Jenni!

Pike Place is awesome! Talk about delicious food…Yumm 😛
Did you get in on the Seattle Rain Festival, Jan. 1st – Dec. 31st? 😉

The Idaho mountains, Arizona desert, or any place by the Pacific ocean would be my place!!

Or give me a good book and a cup of coffee and I would be just as happy :0)

Thanks again for another fun giveaway ♥

  11. How generous of you Jenni! So beautiful!

When I close my eyes and go to my happy place, I picture the La Fortuna waterfall in Costa Rica. I had the privilege of swimming under it on my 30th birthday a year and a half a go. It was honestly life changing. It is one of those moments I will continue to replay over and over in my mind.

  12. awe, love your happy place…that’s where I told my hubby I wanted to go if I knew I had only so much time left on this earth, Pike Place, just wheel me around there till I go….

I think my happy place is sitting at the beach letting the kids play till the sun goes down, no hurry, just hanging out and hearing the waves and smelling the salty air 🙂

  13. At the end of last summer, I went on a cruise to Alaska with my parents and 5 siblings. Whenever I need serenity, I think about that wonderful week full of beautiful scenery, wonderful meals, and exciting shore excursions all shared with my favorite people.

  14. my special place is a vision of a place in Victoria called Harrietville. in Autumn with the beautiful colourful leaves, the sounds of the stream, he water trickling down from the melted snowy mountains. so peaceful, remote and naturally spectaular. ( a must visit place for anyone visiting Victoria, Australia!

  15. What a beautiful blanket. I would love to wrap myself in it, and read a wonderful book…. When I think of a place of serenity, I think of the Island Santorini in Greece. It is just breathtaking & very serene, especially when you witness the most amazing sunset there. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  16. Sometimes I like to take a drive. Just by myself. I usually pick up a coffee, turn on some music and keep driving until I see something new. I’m living in a new city right now, and there’s something comforting about knowing where things are. I get to take a break, turn off my cell phone, and just enjoy exploring my new home. When I close my eyes, I like to think about all the little places where I’ve already lived, and my childhood home, but there’s something calming about knowing that I can find things myself- that I’m creating new memories in a new place.

  17. It’s difficult to choose just one place of serenity in my life. My first thought was to think about sitting in the sun on the beach with bright blue water in front of me… St. Barths or Buzios as the locale would be an added bonus. But lately I’m much easier to please and my place of serenity is Thursday morning’s Music Together class with my daughter. Her joy brings me so much more joy than I ever imagined… more than even a fancy schmancy beach even.

Thank you for the opportunity! I have been reading and enjoying for a while now. Congratulations on 11 months!

  18. My place of serenity is sitting by my fireplace with a roaring fire in my fav comfy chair with a book in one hand, a cup of tea in the other and a warm blanket. There’s no place like home.

  19. Jenni, I love the whole idea of serenity surrounding this giveaway. The idea that popped into my head was lying on a beach chair on the coast of Tybee Island in Ga., crisp air, a warm but light blanket (because it isn’t really truly cold) and a book to read with no agenda the rest of the day. It’s early afternoon, the sea is a lovely grey blue, there’s a few clouds and the sand is fine and light. I didn’t actually get to do this while I was visiting Savannah so many years ago, but I remember it being so beautiful and peaceful. This is what I would do if I returned.

  20. Jenni – I enjoy reading your blog as much as you enjoy writing it. It really is a highlight in my day! Covered by a cozy blanket and reading a book is my happiest place to be. And right now that sounds perfect! We’re staying in a cool boutique hotel with a faux fireplace in our room watching the snow fall outside. Blanket+book+hot tea=ahhhhh. 🙂 Holli

  21. What a fab giveaway!

My spot of serenity is on Vancouver Island on a little mountain called Mt Maguire in East Sooke park overlooking the straights. Best little spot in the whole world. Just thinking about it is making me feel calm.

    bisous
    Suzanne

  22. When I close my eyes and think of my place of serenity I always think of the trip my husband and I took to Italy in 2004. It’s been 10 years and I still think about that trip almost every day! Everything about it was so beautiful! Can’t wait to go back someday.

  23. Oh, I so loved reading everyone’s quiet places. I sure could use some serenity, so this helps me to close my eyes and think of that place. It would have be standing at the top of Hawk’s Bill Gap in the Shenandoah Mountains. This is my peaceful place. The view, the fresh air, the accomplishment from the hike up, absolute serenity. Oddly enough I live 10 minutes from the ocean and am not an ocean person one bit. I crave topography, mountains, views from the heights. I’ll be there in my mind.

Also, totally love Seattle. I spent a month there for work a couple years back and adored it, despite the weather. Thank you for this lovely giveaway Jenni.

  24. I have kept out of the give-aways since I was lucky enough to win 4 or 5 months ago but since you insist 🙂 Mine is snuggling up on the sofa with my wife after a Sunday roast with that full feeling. It’s raining or snowing outside but we don’t care as we have a DVD or books to watch/read, a hot drink and the heating on (we have a great log fire in my mind). Did I mention we have Monday off so we can truly enjoy the moment!

  25. I love that you said Seattle. I love everyone’s places of serenity. Thanks for bringing one to my mind, Jenni. There’s a place on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle, where we clam when the tide goes out. Then we all come in, cold from the Pacific chill. My son warms by the fire my has husband made, and I warm in the kitchen as I prepare a garlic & wine clam dish for dinner. We are going back over Easter break. Looking forward to it. 🙂

  26. I see a field of wild flowers next to a babbling brook with a large shade tree along beside it. I imagine lying on a blanket under the tree, with a slight breeze ruffling my hair. I meditate by picturing this scene.

  27. I picture a warm, peaceful garden; with abundant flowers and butterflies fluttering about. A comfy hammock, blankets, and pillows would perfectly complete the picture. // thanks for the chance!

  28. I picture a secluded spot in the woods with a river rushing through and a fantastic book in my hands.
Thanks for the opportunity! I love your blog!!
