Free People’s 4 Hour Sale: My Under $100 Recommendations

Update: THIS SALE IS NOW OVER. : (. Sorry!

I normally will never do a sale post, but since this is an annual thing ( who knew?), I decided to share in case you did not know: Free People is having a 4 hour sale tonight from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. EST! Take 20% off orders of $200-499 and 25% off orders of $500 or more with code “STAYGOLD.” Shipping is always free at Free People on orders over $100.

Yippee! Oh, wait. My budget is gone this month. Wah. Wah. I will not be partaking of this lovely sale, but if you have the funds, I have some recommendations.

All of these items are now under $100!:

My corduroy overalls. I love these. I am embarrassed how often I wear them. They go with everything! I wrote a post with more outfit ideas on these overalls in October.

This chevron slip (photo from Free People website). I purchased it on sale last month in coral and have not taken a picture of it yet. But I did wear it under a dress yesterday, with the bottom peeking out. Sexy lingerie you can layer? Yes, please.

The ” With A Light Heart Dress” I just posted about today. This would be a great deal!

The Miles of Henley Dress. I have this in three colors. It layers very well. It is unbelievably flattering. I think I will wear one tomorrow! I did two posts featuring this dress in the past. This one shows the lilac and the charcoal. This one shows more of the rust.

The Mix In Crochet Dress. I bought mine in rose in May. I have never posted about it, but I love it! Sorry about the horrible picture. It was taken at 11:00 at night in the summer (the night I met Patrick Rothfuss).

Free People’s Golden Age Top. This has an open back and is so cute layered over lacy slips. I sense a theme of wearing my underclothes out of the house. This is not the time to exam this closer. More pictures of this top can be seen here.

The Manina Colorblock Skirt. As of this writing, there were two size larges left! My post about this skirt can be seen here.

Okay. This one is $110. But still a fantastic sale price:

The Estelle Maxi Dress. I adore mine. This is $110, but still almost half off, it is a great deal. My post about it with more photos is here.

What is on your wishlist? Is there anything you will be splurging on? Are you excited about this surprise sale?

  1. Oooh. This reminds me. Maybe I will wear ‘our’ corn candy skirt for Thanksgiving. Maybe I can finally get a decent picture to send you.

    • Great idea! Oh! I hope you get some good photos! But, mostly, just have a great day! We will be at my dad’s house. I am thinking of doing a “live” post that day. With pictures of our Thanksgiving being updated sporadically. But, we will see!

I cannot wait to see if you get your pictures! Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I Love the overalls on you! I might have to try it, I just adore it…if it looks as half as good as it does on you I might buy it. I think all the items you purchased are beautiful and look so good on you! I especially like the maxi dress and golden age top on you. You make everything look cute and fun to wear!

    • You are so sweet! Thank you, Sayaka! You would look good in anything! Seriously! These overalls might be a little too distressed for you, though. They have worn parts on them. I like that, but I do not know if you will. Just something to know!

Thank you so much for the compliments! I really appreciate it!

      Have a terrific weekend!

  3. Gasping… the crochet dress is absolutely stunning on you! And, of course, those overalls are so adorable. Thanks for the heads up on the sale – I did not know that this was a yearly thing.

    • Oh, thank you Cynthia! I do love that dress. I need to get it altered so it fits on top a little better. If you got something, I hope you like it! I sat this sale out. But it looked like it could be good sale!

      Have a peaceful evening!

    • Thank you! Yay! I am glad I could help. I hope you got some amazing things. There were so many good deals to be had! I cannot wait to hear what you got. I will live vicariously through you!

      Have sweet dreams!

      • I got the keep me tee dress, with a light heart dress in white, wanna dance ankle boots, slouchy Pom Pom beanie, and the Manchester tall boot! I know, a little over the top but oh well!

      • Those are all awesome items! Thank you so much for responding! I love hearing what other people have purchased! I hope you get tons of wear out of them and that they come soon! How fun!

I hope your Sunday has been relaxing!

    • Hi Sarah! I love pregnant girls in overalls. I think it is so cute. But Miami is a deal breaker. It would be miserable! Darn, because I think you would look great in them. They can be rolled and the straps tailored. But there are so many great things you can wear in that weather!

      Have a great week!

  4. Why do I always miss flash sales?! Argh! That really sucks, being that Free People so rarely has promotions like this. Thanks for sharing, though. I guess that’s what I get for getting behind in keeping up the blogs that I love, right?

P.S. I feel like your style is becoming more bohemian and hippie-esque every time I go to your page. I LOVE IT! 🙂

    • Hi Casey!

I know! I wish I had more advance warning! Then I might have saved some finds in preparation of this sale. Oh, well, I did not save any money, but I did not spend any either.

Thank you for the compliment! It is money, because this week all of my clothes have been more streamlined old school Anthropologie. I go through phases. So weird!

      Have a lovely week!

  5. Great recommendations! That “Mix In Crochet” dress is absolutely lovely. I feel like you would be the most stylish Renaissance woman, ever. Your style definitely has this Renaissance vibe but is still somehow totally modern. I love it. It has to be so fun to feel like you have one foot in history and another in the modern-day. I like to feel like I have one foot in a princess castle and the other in reality. haha (But no really. I do.)

I really need to get my butt into a Free People. I’ve never been! One opened up downtown a couple of months ago, and their window displays look gorgeous, but I still haven’t headed in. I’ve tried browsing their website, but it’s really hard to get a feel for how things will look on me judging from how they’re styled on the models. Plus, their pieces are styled in such layered, earthy, and funky ways that are great eye candy but don’t translate well for how I would wear them. You’re the most helpful FP advertisement for me because you’ll wear a piece that I absolutely adore, I realize it’s from FP, and it just confirms for me that I really need to head in there!

And that colorblock skirt. I still absolutely love it. It’s a stunner for sure!

    • Thank you, Liz!

I need to wear that dress more. I love it. I need to get the top altered so the sleeves stay up.

You would love Free People. I can imagine the many ways that you could style their attire. I find the stores themselves super intimidating. Not like Anthro, where it is a huge store and many items, the Free People store is more boutique like and so I feel very much like all of my choices are critiqued. That is just my hang-up. I prefer Anthropologie stores to Free People stores and Free People online to Anthropologie online.

I hope your job is going great!

      Jenni

  6. I am thinking about gettting the in the mix crochet dress and I noticed going through this post we have a lot of the same things! I have the gold overalls, the golden age top, looks like we have quite similar taste. the crochet dress looks good on you – I’m just undecided about the sizing.

    • Thank you Erin. That dress is so hard with sizing. I bought both the medium and the small in order to choose the right size. The small was SOOOO tight in the chest, but the medium is so loose. The arms are constantly falling. I need to get them altered so they will stay put. I am glad I stuck with the medium despite this.

I hope that helps! Have a fantastic weekend!
