Dear Mommy: What Does The Mommy Say?

20131028-165013.jpg

Dear Mommy,

What does the fox say?

Your child

Dear Child,

We have been through this. Why is this a question? Or a song?

Love,

Mommy

Dear Mommy,

I cannot wait to leave this house! I am going to live on top ramen. I am going to eat it every night. I can’t wait!

Your child

Dear child,

Why didn’t you tell me before? That sounds fantastic. I cannot wait to come over. Next, you will be telling me you are going to be all fancy and eat off of paper plates and use plastic forks. What would I wear to such a fine establishment? I think we should try this immediately. I will start making you a separate batch of top ramen all to yourself. We will eat our home cooked meal that took me two hours to make. You will get your five minute meal instead.

I am nothing if not a dream maker.

I look forward to serving you. Maybe I will even lay out some of that fancy cutlery you like. I think I have some from the drive-thru laying around.

Love,

Mommy

Dear Mommy,

I can’t find my other shoe!

Your child

Dear Child,

It is 8:40. We and your two-feet-in-shoes were supposed to leave the house five minutes ago. I am so very thrilled to run around and look under every piece of furniture we own for your other shoe. Why, I aim to please.

Speaking of which, I bought you three pairs of shoes two months ago. Surely we have a set to one of those. No? Well, could you wear a mismatched pair? No? What’s that? We only have the right ones? Okay. Mommy is just going to lay here awhile. Maybe whatever took your left shoes will come back. For me.

Love,

Mommy

Dear Mommy,

I love you.

Your Child

Dear Child,

Awww. Okay. Okay. You can have top ramen AND the “real” dinner I made.

And I found all of your left shoes in the dog food bag, along with my favorite necklace. Which you can, of course, borrow tomorrow.

And for the record, the fox says, “I love you, too.”

Love,

Mommy

    • Thanks Stephen! Actually, we still have not found the other shoe. But we found an old pair to tide us over. I am still wondering where the other shoe went. I have looked everywhere, even the dog food bag.

      I hope you are having a both-shoes-on easy week! : )

      • I hope you find the missing shoe one day Jenni. Maybe it will be when the shoe is too small to be worn. It will turn up where you least expect it 🙂

Yes I am having a both shoes on kind of day. We have just had all our carpets washed today so I have all the windows open (its a bit chilly) and have created one or two islands where I have some snacks, drinks and things internet devices until everything dries out.

Have a lovely day! (PS I did a Halloween post today and will do another one tomorrow… todays is a little scary).

      • Oooohhh! I have to check it out. Only I am about to fall over asleep. I just finished making my Halloween treat bags and it is after midnight! I will definitely read it tomorrow!

Clean carpets are one of my very favorite things. Thanks for the reminder! I need to get ours done again soon. I love the smell! I hate the wet carpet. Oh well, the end result is what matters.

        Talk to you soon!

  1. I especially like the part about the shoe monster coming back for you. This entry really made me laugh. It is always fascinating to me that the funniest things are the “real” things. Great job!

    • Thank you! Those are actual things that I have had happen to me this week, although, I added the ending with finding shoes. Because I still have not found the shoe I was looking for. It is kind of driving me crazy wondering where it is. It was expensive! I cleaned today and still have not found it. I really should check the dog food. I am hoping Ollie did not drag it outside, because I have not looked there and it has since rained.

Thank you so much for commenting on this. I appreciate it! : )

I hope you are having a happy week. We carved pumpkins tonight and the dogs were going insane for any bits that fell on the floor. Do you have that problem?

  2. This is hilarious! And it could easily be an exchange at my house. Love the format and I particularly like the bit where you hope the shoe monster comes back for you. 😀

    • Thank you so much Suzanne! Life is never boring with kids, is it? Pumpkins were carved tonight and I am still looking for that darn shoe! I wish it really was in the dog food bag. : )

I am so glad you can relate. And I appreciate so much you commenting!

      Have a great week!

  3. So sweet! Love the line about the shoes and your favorite necklace in the dog food bag. Please tell me you made that up or I am going to spend the rest of the day wondering how they got there! lol

    • Hi Cynthia. Thank you. Yes, I made that ending up. Only because those two things are still missing and that is the last place I can imagine they would be. I looked everywhere today. It is a mystery.

Thanks for commenting on this little story!

I hope your week is filled with found items! : )
