My Craigslist Find

When we built our pool two years ago, I needed to find furniture to fill the spaces. But outdoor furniture is very expensive. I looked everywhere. I tried Costco. I had purchased our other outdoor sectional through them the year before. But that had been a great price, because it was discontinued. I could not find the deal I wanted the next year.

So, I checked craigslist. And I found a sectional with a matching giant ottoman that could make up into a huge outdoor bed.

?

Yes, outdoor bed. The ottoman fits perfectly into the couch. Having no need for an outdoor bed that could fit twelve (imagine the fun stories this piece could tell), we separated the two pieces into two separate areas around the pool. They came with blue cushions. I was doing a blue color scheme, so it was perfect.

But the fabric has not held up so well. Even though we put it in storage in the winter. So, I am going to try and revive it. Thank you, Teresa, for the suggestions. This is what it looks like for now.

It is the only thing I have ever purchased on Craigslist. Go big! My sweet dad went and picked it up for me. Thanks daddy!

I am always searching Craigslist for certain items. Shhhh… I am not telling what. I’ll let you know if I ever get them. I got beat out on a spectacular item by one hour, two weeks ago.

Have you purchased anything from Craigslist? What was it?

  1. So it worked or just kind of? It looks pretty good to me in the photos. I have never found anything on Craigslist but have found both of my wonderful doggies thru Kijiji.

Up here in Canada, Craigslist is mostly (in my circle’s anyway) where you find people to employ for construction work or escorts (if you know what I mean ;O).

I love reading your blog, I am addicted. After Roxy’s EA blog, your’s is the next one I always read. You are doing a great job!

    • Hi Teresa! First, thank you so much for the sweet, sweet words. I appreciate that so much. I was just thinking before I read your comment that maybe nobody really liked my blog. So, thank you! So much! (I love Roxy’s blog, as well. She’s great!)

I have not tried the antibacterial method yet. I need to go buy a ton. I will post pictures of the update if it works. Thank you for the suggestion!

Is Kijiji like Craigslist? I was scared of Craigslist (still am a little), but I am ready for another try! There are some crazy stuff on there! ; )

      Have a fantastic weekend!

    • Thank you Lorraine! The couch is really stained. It just does not show up in pictures. I really need to get on that antibacterial sanitizer.

I appreciate your very nice comment about my blog, as well. Thank you! : ). I needed those words today.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!

  2. Wow, what a great find! I purchase and sell things on craigslist once in awhile. I find myself browsing it just to browse it when I’m really really bored. I am often looking for ‘new’ toys for my little guy.

    • Thank you! I am always looking for antiques at a good price. I have not found any yet. Toys are probably a great find! My friend is always buying stuff off of Craigslist for her kids. She has found some great stuff!

Thank you so much for commenting! I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. I just found your blog (through the Weekly Writer’s Challenge – loved the letter to your kids on FB! I am with you!!) I went on reading and read this one . . . I just recovered an outdoor swing. It’s COSTLY to recover! You can spend hundreds on it! Even the material to make your own is expensive and then I read on Pinterest how someone used a shower curtain to recover. I found one at Good Will – brand new – $3.29!!! 🙂 Happy Mama here! I know you probably would not find all the same ones at Good Will to recover – though you could be very imaginative and make it be real wild with various prints – but even shower curtains at Walmart might be considerable to use to recover (or have a friend sew for you!!) Just a thought!~ 🙂

    • Thank you so much!

I know I will have to recover these sooner or later. I am being stubbornly optimistic, which, is not like me at all. I love the idea of a shower curtain. And also mixing up the fabrics. That could get really fun! I have also heard of people using drop cloths from the hardware store. I am open anything that saves me money!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and give me suggestions.

      Have a most wonderful day!

    • Thank you!

The link wouldn’t work. I think you need to approve it on your blog. But I googled it. The bookcases are beautiful. What a steal! I am so jealous. I never find anything that good. Well, I find good clothing deals. But not big furniture deals. Does that count?

I kept your link open, because I wanted to comment on your page. But dorky me forgot her google password. I have to wait for my husband to get home so he can remind me.

Thank you for commenting! Have a wonderful weekend.
